    1995 Evinrude E90TLEO charging

So I got to water test it today. 13.22v at 900 RPM 14v at 4800 RPM That is with a meter at the battery. Jeff

I understand racerone and yes. It is pretty simplistic. But, everything is checking out to spec and there still appears to be a problem. As I said, I will water test this weekend and see if the higher RPM will produce more voltage. I really don't have much experience with this sort of thing...

racerone, what do you mean by that? Me to stop posting? I will water test it this weekend and see if the higher RPM will increase the voltage output. Jeff

The above readings were at the motor as well as the battery. Same reading everywhere I measured from the rectifier/regulator to the battery. No music, just a humminbird sonar unit and livewell pump. Jeff

@racerone, everything checks out to be in spec. I need to get the boat in the water to test at upper RPM's. Outside of that, any ideas as to what the issue could be? I am running a maintenance fee battery. Could that be the issue? Jeff

I will try to trace it down. Battery is on charge now. Jeff

Yes, had I known I was buying Sierra parts. I would have absolutely bought OEM. Jeff

I have two EverStarts either 24 or 27's. I've had good luck with them over the years. I have the second one in the boat as a backup in case something happened on the lake. We just recently got back from a fishing trip in Quebec Canada. It's pretty remote and I wanted the redundancy for safety...

Is this repairable for safe use on the lake?

Nope, not pretty. But, looks like it will catch fish. Thank you, Jeff

Is this repairable for safe use on the lake?

My Daughter's boat had a large tree limb fall on it during a storm. I am wondering if it can be repaired and be safe for the water. Jeff

cyclops222, I will do that. I think I will add a house battery for my sonar and miscellaneous accessories. Just need to decide to wire it parallel and figure out how to isolate it. Or just to wire it separate. Jeff

Per the FSM in the following picture. It shows a no load current spec of 12 to 12.4v. Is that right, if so that would mean that I am charging in spec correct? Jeff

So I changed the stator as well as the rectifier/regulator. Thought I was getting CDI products only to receive Sierra parts. I did not know that CDI had been bought out. Anyway, changed those out and I am still getting 12.2 v at 1,000 RPM. 12.4 to 12.5 at 2,000 RPM. Jeff

    1995 Evinrude E90TLEO charging

I ordered the stator as well as the rectifier/regulator today. I went with CDI over OEM. I hope that was a wise choice. Jeff

Crosbyman, thank you. I did do that. I guess I was a little confused about what was a high reading, being infinity or OL vs a low reading checking a grounded condition. The FSM isn't clear on that and doesn't give any specs in regards to that. Jeff
