    Two motors off one tank

I recently traded my 4 stroke kicker for a 2 stroke so i could run my kicker and main motor off of the same gas tank. Now I am looking into how to go about doing that. I imagine that some kind of "T" would need to be put in the line, but I didn't see anything like that in the iBoats store...

    Overheating?

(I'm posting this here because 1. Nobody reads the Force threads, and 2. Mercury took over Force, so maybe you guys can help me) 1987 Force 125 Yesterday, I started up my motor on the muffs, and after a few minutes, smoke (more than usual) was coming out of the exhaust and off the block. I...

    Overheating?

1987 Force 125 Today, I started up my motor on the muffs, and after a few minutes, smoke (more than usual) was coming out of the exhaust and off the block. I pulled the lower unit, and found my impeller shredded to bits. Now, rewind a few weeks... A few weeks ago, I started up my motor after...

    Water-tight Glove box

I am looking to install a glove box in my boat, but I would like it to be water proof. Anybody know where I can find one? Or, better yet, are the glove boxes here on iBoats water tight?

    Overfill/Primer

Today I went to take the boat out for a nice day in the beautiful Western Washington Sun, and ran into a tricky little problem. I just finished putting in a new gas tank last week, and today was the first day I filled it all the way up. Before I have been putting in just enough fuel for what I...

    Extra Button

So I thought I'd get some extra input on what to do here. I have an extra button on my dash, and I can't decide what to do with it. it is the kind where once you let go, whatever you are activating will stop, like a car horn. I thought about installing a horn for fun, but on an 18' boat...not so...

    Starting Battery

Is it ok to be using a deep cycle battery as my starting battery? I am aware of the difference between the two (deep cycle and starting). My motor takes a few cranks to get it started so I figured the longer discharge from a deep cycle would be a better idea. Am I on the right track here?

    Anchor Vs. Bow Light

I want to put an anchor mount for my fluke style anchor on the bow of my boat, but my bow light would get in the way. I would like to have the anchor mount, as well as my bow light. I am also planning on having a manual winch behind that. Does anybody have any ideas on how to have my bow light...

    Electric Mayhem!

SO I recently completed a complete gas tank swap. Everything was going great, until I went to start my boat up, and...... nothing. During the gas tank installation the only piece of electronic gear I changed was the sending unit. To rule that out, i disconnected it and tried again, nothing. When...

    No Choke Merc. 9.9

I have a 1995 Merc 9.9 4 Stroke Longshaft. it has a really hard time starting. There is no choke, and I have tried all the tricks, like priming the bulb, then pumping the throttle, but nothing works. The only thing that seems to work is pulling like crazy for about 30 minutes, letting it sit for...

    Washing New Fuel Hose?

I am in the final stages of installing a new below deck gas tank. yesterday, I was installing my fuel fill hose, and i got really nasty black stuff all over my hands. Should I wash out the inside of the hose? I am afraid that stuff will get into the gas/motor. I'm not 100% sure that the residue...

    Securing bow gas tank

I am thinking about installing a 23 gallon gas tank in the bow of my 18' runabout ('78 Reinell), but I am not quite sure about how to secure it. I don't want to glass it in because there is a varnished out tank in the rear, glassed into the floor. I dont want to replace that, too big of a job...

    Converting to Oil Injection

has anyone had any luck converting a force 125 2 stroke to having oil injection? I am installing a new gas tank, and would love to run my 4 stroke kicker and 2 stroke main off of the same tank to save some deck space. Im not sure of the year, but I would estimate it in the mid to late 80's. It...

    1995 Mercury 9.9 4 Stroke

I recently bought a new to me 1995 Mercury 4 STROKE 9.9 outboard and I am having a really difficult time getting it started. Yesterday i put it in some water, hooked up the gas, and started pulling. After about 15 minutes with no luck, my arms were done, so I went inside to search iBoats for...

    1998ish Mercury 4 Stroke 9.9

I have a 1998ish Mercury 4 Stroke outboard that is extremely hard to start. Once it get's running it's fine, and will start on half a pull; but getting it to start has taken me up to 45 minutes! That's a lot of time and calories burned. I recently realized that there is no choke on it, or at...

    Merc 9.9 Throttle Question

So I know there is a lot of discussion about converting tiller controlled throttles to helm controlled throttles. It seems easy enough, just connect the cable to the throttle in the motor and you're good to go. But I want to do this on my kicker. It is a 1998 Mercury 9.9 HP 4 stroke. The problem...

    Crazy Trailer Lights

I have a Calkins Trailer for my 18 Ft. Reinell, and I think it is crazy. here's what happens: When I hook up the lights to my truck, everything works just fine (Blinkers and brakes) but when I turn the headlights of the truck on, everything gets screwed. The tail lights come on, but as soon as...

    Building a Hard Top

Hey guys, so i have an 18ft Reinell Fiberglass Deep Vee circa 1978. It came with a cloth Bimini top, but I live up in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle-ish) and as you all know, our weather isn't always enviable. I want to build a hard top for my boat, but have no idea where to start. Does anybody...

    Resting My engine while towing

I have a 125HP Force outboard on my 18Ft Reinell, and everytime I go to pull out of my driveway (a slight downward angle), I have to tilt the motor up to get it off. There is a metal bracket (looks kind of like a U-bolt) that I put in the holes for tilting the motor that the motor can rest on...
