The motor is a 60's 18hp evinrude and recently started coming out of gear(slipping) in forward gear. It seems to gradually work its way out of gear and then immediatly slams back in to gear. I put my hand on the shift lever and could feel it backing out of gear until it re-engaged. With the...
Engine starts fine but loses power and dies after a few minutes. Ive noticed some oil/fuel collecting in the bottom of the housing, which may or may not have anything to do with it. carb was cleaned at the end of last season, and it has a new fuel pump on it. Any advice helps. Thanks.
The motor starts well and seems to run strong at idle, but dies within 30 seconds. I checked the fuel pump and it seems to be working well. The gas tank and line aren't leaking. Is this a carb issue? What's my next move? Thanks.
