Have a 83 Evinrude 60 recently purchased that runs great but it will not shift properly. If I adjust the shift cable to get it to go into Fwd, the reverse will not engage properly. If I adjust it to go into reverse the fwd will not engage (sits there and claters).
Before I buy a new starter I wanted to get others opinion. I had the batteries tested and all the connections are good but the starter barely turns, just goes uh,uh,uh. I suspect the starter is bad. Any advise, comments?
We replaced the fuel pump and rebuilt the carbs and it ran just fine, only took it out a couple of times. Sat unused for 4 days now the starter barely turns the motor over. Both batteries were checked and are good. Starter gone bad??
I have a 89 140 VRO that boggs down when it is put in forward and I try to accelerate. It will run at idle and will rev okay when in neutral. This started after replacing the fuel pump, have taken carbs apart and cleaned them. Any ideas appreciate the help.
