    I was wondering what the proper shift rod length on a 1977 evinrude 85 model #85793s was. And also while i have the foot off can i use a waterhose to remove all the sand around the water pump or will it mix with the foot oil if i do.

    Ok my water pump is shot, figured that out thanks to this forum. Bout to drop the foot and put a new water pump in. Know how to do everthing except disconect the sift linkage from under the carburetor. Ive done this procedure on other motors but cant figure out how to get the llinkage...
