Wine glass harmonic sound switching from 3 blade to 4 blade

As the title suggests I have a harmonic noise best described as a wet finger traveling around the top of a wine glass emitting from the newly installed Michigan Wheel 4 bladed props. Funny thing is it goes away above 1500 RPM and most noticeable at 800-1000 RPM and on both engines. Anything I...

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Hey, thanks for the cool pitcutrre!........ No barbs on mine...... 1/4 NPT on both ends. I somehow answered the question on my own and believe it or not... all three oriented and installed true to your picture. So......I continue to be experiencing high power throttle RPM roll backs on both...

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Problem was and is a stuck anti siphon valve It just did it again. Vent is clear. Which way does the ball end of the 1/4" npt anti siphon valve point to? Tank or carb I think i installed it bakwards. I dont have the starboard engine floor up to cross check

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Thanks to all for your replies. Using a vacuum gauge to determine fuel restrictions is brilliant. I ran here on a plane today at 3800RPM. It's been awhile since I've been able to do this. Very much into the Q-jets vacuum secondaries. 15,000 pounds on a plane $$$

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Line by line, piece by piece verified .07"HG on vacuum gauge until I got to the water separator. Turns out on older fram water separator housing there is a 1/4" NPT anti-siphon valve. When I replaced that fitting with a straight 1/4" NPT nipple I'm getting fuel through lines. I was also...

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Fuel separators checked and no water noted. Looking like a blocked anti-siphon valve.

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Thought about this too. I decided prior to to part swapping to actually listen to the knowledge on this forum and actually do the steps prior to swapping parts port to star. A previous post asked a simple questions. Did you check compression? Did you check Fuel pressure? Neither of which I...

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Question. Can a vacuum gauge be used to perform a fuel pressure test on the inlet side of the fuel pump without the engine running? That is engine not demanding any fuel such as idle in slip but a running engine? If so then I could simply jumper wire the pump to on and use the 3/8" in NPT inlet...

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Great info but scary. Now I have to figure how to plum in vacuum gauge on the inlet side. Never easy What size fittings on the lines to water separator using a 3/4" wrench? Still 3/8" or 1/2" lines? Need to know this in order to find a tee that will work

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Neither. Compression check I can handle. Not sure how to go about fuel pressure test while running. The line from the carter fuel pump is a double inverted flared 3/8" steel line. I'll start looking for an fitting that would allow for a 1/4" NPT fitting be plumbed in to my fuel pressure gauge...

    454 dies over 1800RPM loaded

Engine is a 2019 Michigan Motors Gen 5 454 long block with the original 1990 manifold and Q-jet carb which is suspect. Ignition is New Delco Voyager EST with new plugs, cap, rotor and wires. 105 hours on the new port and star engine and ignition system. Seems like port engine is running out of...

    1998 5.7 exhaust manifold gaskets

Can I use the Fel-Pro 1404 locally obtained exhaust manifold gaskets in place of the quicksilver 27-33395? I can order the OEM's through Amazon but being out in the country takes a little bit to obtain.

    Another prop slipping thread

I had a brain storm. A loaded down boat that day with a 21 pitch prop and tons of horse power..... I'm thinking.... since nothing found I'm the culprit of extreme prop cavitation. I understand the level of stupidity but that's the only explanation as no smoking gun identified. Following the...

    Another prop slipping thread

Well, I've officially eliminated any and all sources. No other option than to order a new coupler. I am going to order up a new input shaft bearing though as the one shown in picture and still on shaft is scored and worn. Thanks for your help. Oh BTW should I go with OEM? coupler? any after...

Me too but no burnt rubber odor that I can recall. I could however weld the shaft to the outer dome. Couplers sure are pricey and offer no integrity

Well I had the chance to pull the engine yesterday for inspection of the coupling. Nothing obvious found. Will the heavy duty big block coupling work on my Vortec? I found one for just a little bit more than mine.

Alignment shaft slides in and out effortless. So yes. Many years ago on the roller cam choice we chose. Again it was built for our Camero but ended up using it for the SeaRay. The engine is 2000 5.7 4 bolt Vortec SBC from a 3500 truck with a stroker kit from Summit. We built it for street /...
