    Anti Seize or Not?

I've got the V6 and 25 lb-ft is what the manual states but that would need to be reduced if you use anti-seize. https://www.rocol.com/knowledge-centre/rocol_expert/a-deeper-understanding-of-anti-seize

    Anti Seize or Not?

Just remember if using any kind of lubricant/anti seize you'll need to recalculate the torque settings. I ended up opting for no lubricant on my manifold and elbow bolts!

    Alpha One Gen 2 Whine/Whirring until 1200rpm

Hi all, My sterndrive was recently written off due to hitting a submerged object. I bought a used lower unit from a local marine shop and they stripped, inspected, replaced top bearing, shimmed, and resealed my upper unit. New impeller kit and fresh oil. I now have a whirring/whining sound that...

Manifold and riser/elbow question for V6 Tahoe Q4

Thanks Chris, I just meant that the 2008 Tahoe Q4 (as per original post) with this engine uses this setup. I appreciate there will be different configurations for older/newer boats and if my boat was a custom once off type thing or didn't have the original engine then I would have gone with the...

Manifold and riser/elbow question for V6 Tahoe Q4

Just in case anyone stumbles across this thread looking for an answer, this model Tahoe Q4 uses the 14 degree elbows with no spacers.

Manifold and riser/elbow question for V6 Tahoe Q4

The problem with that is it means taking the boat to the water and back again. I was hoping someone with a Tahoe Q4 could let me know what is on theirs.

Manifold and riser/elbow question for V6 Tahoe Q4

That doesn't tell me if there are spacers required though? I've had two dealers come back to me to say the serial number doesn't provide that information. Edit: I did try this on the Mercury online one, it just lists all the spacers available.

Manifold and riser/elbow question for V6 Tahoe Q4

Hi, Can anyone with a Tahoe Q4 that has the Mercruiser V6 let me know if there are spacers between the exhaust manifold and elbows? If so what size are they? My boat currently has aftermarket SS manifolds and I'm looking to replace with OEM. It's a 19'6 Tahoe Q4 built in 2008.

    Advice needed on sterndrive replacement

I should have said I'm in Australia in case you were thinking those were USD prices. I've seen a couple of cheaper shafts on eBay, about $350-400 each. There's also a cheap used set that have some corrosion - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/223790509819 What's your thoughts on replacing...

    Advice needed on sterndrive replacement

The prop was aluminium surprisingly. It lost a complete blade and dinged a couple of the others but I thought it would have protected the shafts. The splines on both are twisted and the bend on the prop shaft made for a severe wobble. I should have said I'm in Australia, our market for spares...

Thanks for the info, reassuring that you've had 6 years out of one. I'll be impressed if the warranty covers hitting submerged objects!

    Advice needed on sterndrive replacement

Assuming you have one can you share a bit more info please? - How long have you had the drive fitted? - Do you use it in fresh/salt water? - Is your boat trailered or on a mooring/pen? - Any problems even if minor? - Is the finish/paint still in good condition?

    Advice needed on sterndrive replacement

I considered this but with enough impact to bend both shafts I expect bearings are likely to be damaged also? I spoke to a stern drive repair shop and they were saying approx $700 per shaft, $200 for seals, 4 hours labour per unit. They can definitely rebuild but said depending on internal...

    Advice needed on sterndrive replacement

It's a 3 year manufacturers warranty, although I've not looked into what it covers. I'd be interested to hear from anyone that has had issues covered under warranty and the turnaround times, our boat has been off the water for almost 2 months already which isn't something I want to repeat!!

    Advice needed on sterndrive replacement

Hi all, A friend ran my boat into shallow water when I was wakeboarding and damaged the sterndrive, an Alpha One Gen 2. The boat went in for assessment and the workshop found the propeller and driveshafts bent and twisted. They recommended replacing the sterndrive and coupling and provided an...

    Tahoe Q4 Steering Cable Length

Hi all, I have a 2008 Tahoe Q4 with the Mercruiser V6 TKS and Alpha One. It's the 19'5" version, not the slightly shorter newer version. The issue is the steering is very stiff to turn. The belt is good and I spent the best part of an hour working blind to remove the cotter pin and disconnect...

Rough running and stalling at idle speed - disconnect TKS helps

I had the boat at the lake over the weekend and a problem developed on the first day where it got really lumpy while at idle both in and out of gear. Then on day 2 it got worse to the point where it would cut out and be quite difficult to start. This is the first time out since I serviced it so...

Reset service indicator on Stingray 185 LS

I hope this is the right section. I have a 2006 Stingray 185 LS with a 3.0 Merc and the service indicator is flashing on the hour meter. I've done the service so am now wondering how I go about resetting the indicator? I've checked the Stingray online manual and there is no mention of it. There...

Several key turns to get 3.0 TKS to turn over from cold

Hi all, I have a 2006 Stingray 185 LS with a Merc 3.0 TKS. I bought the boat in April 2015 and used it every other weekend until late 2015 without any issues. The weather was not so kind in 2016 so usage dropped down to less than once a month. Everything was fine up until I took it for a run...

Possible to repair leaking oil reservoir?

I have a leak from the gear oil reservoir for my Alpha One Gen 2 which sits up on the manifold of my 2006 Mercruiser 3.0L. When the boat is in gear the oil is dripping where the wires for the sensor come out at the bottom. Ironic that the sensor that is meant to alarm me to low oil level is the...
