    Replacing shift rod "O" ring

    I have a 84 Johnson 25 HP and water is getting in the lower unit after I replaced impellar. I will replace drive shaft seals and thought while tore down may as well replace shift rod "O" ring. I have OMC manual for motor but not very clear. Do I have to disassemble the lower unit to replace this...

    1983 25HP johnson

    Were there a lot of changes between 1980 and 1983 for the 25 HP Johnson? I am looking to use the 1980 service manual for water pump impellar, thermostat repair etc. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

    6 HP Johnson, 1968, & 73

    I have a couple of old Johnson's 6 HP. Can you tell me what ranges of compression would be acceptale for these motors? What was compression when new etc.? Thanks. :)
