Etching Primer: What does it do and do I need it?

I am slowly ( VERY SLOWLY) restoring my 1959 Starcraft Speedqueen, and I am ready now to paint the bare aluminum interior. Do I have to use etching primer, or can I get away with regular filler primer? Does etching primer work on steel?

Montgomery Ward 5hp Year and Water Impeller

Hi all. I dug out of my grandfather's barn an old blue and white Montgomery Ward 5hp outboard. It hadn't run in about 5-6 years. Well, I fixed that. Cleaned the carb, new plugs and fuel lines, and she runs like a champ. Only problem is that the impeller ( or whats left of it) is in DIRE need of...

    Sodablasting vs Stripping

Hi all. I have my 1959 Starcraft Speed Queen that I am in the process of restoring. I want to repaint it because 1 its green, and 2 it was painted by some novice with a brush. It would be for my 1958 Starcraft Speed Queen I am currently restoring. Also wondering if anybody...

I need a windshield for my 1958 Starcraft Speed Queen. I am quite sure the windshield is the same on many boats of that era. Anybody got one laying around not being used? 5 feet wide, 17.5 inches tall are the dimensions.

Mercury 35hp needs to warm up before I can shift

I have a 1970 ( I think) 35hp Mercury with relatively low time. I started it today for the first time since I've had it, and I couldn't get it to shift into gear without it fully warmed up. Is this a choke problem or a gummed carb jet? Any thoughts/suggestions?

    Starcraft Speedqueen: My First Boat

Hi everyone, I am 17 and relatively new to boating. I just bought a 14' Starcraft with a 35hp mercury and a trailer for $400. This will be my first boat (if you don't count my rowboat) and I am very excited about it. I plan to strip and paint it, rebuild the carbureator, and replace the...
