    Dry weight?

When a boat has the listed dry weight, what is this a weight of? Is it the hull without the engine? The reason I ask is I know they can change the engine to a much heavier weighted engine and then what do the mfg's do? Do they recertify for each individual engine?

    Mechanic question

I am curious if this explanation sounds right to anyone. I have an old boat that sat for a long time. I emtied the gas tank, rebuilt the carb, replaced the fuel pump, and replaced the oil plugs and filters. The motor runs great and starts on the first crank. I dont have any experience with...

    Infant life jackets

A buddy of mine was telling me the other day that Missouri does not have a law about infants wearing life vests. I had never heard that and I was wondering if any other state has this law. I have always heard that anyone under 13 in Oklahoma has to wear one while the boat is underway. I am...

    Hinge pin removal tool

Does anyone know where to get one of these other than special order? I was at the marina today and asked to get one and was told they could order one but that most people didnt use the actual tool. I asked where or what they used and the answer was vague so I called another marina and they...

    Gasket rot?

Has anyone ever heard of the gasket between the outdrive and the transom rotting? If a boat sits for a long time can this rot away?

    Which is easier?

I know this is a relative question but my wife and I were talking about the differences between wakeboarding and skiing. My wife is a great slolam skier, but I have only skied a few times in my life. I am 6'4 about 275 and I think wakeboarding would be easier for me to get up and she says that...

Motor dying when shifting into forward gear

Hello all I am fairly new here and I am most certainly new to Inboard motors. I have a 1981 Cobalt that I got last year and have had the lower unit rebuilt and the carb rebuilt. It has been drydocked for about 10 years and we have gone over the motor with a fine tooth comb or so I think...

    Surge Brakes

I was able to get a boat last year and have it ready to go but I am wondering what to do with the trailer. The trailer I got was from family and it sat for 20 years in the backyard on blocks. Every couple of months my grandfather in law would hand rotate the wheels and make sure the bearings...
