I am trying to remove my tilt-trim assembly, and successfully removed the two mounting brackets and tilt tube. The motor is hung on an engine hoist and I am trying to remove the remaining tilt assembly. The bottom two nuts came off without a hitch, although they were corroded a bit.
However...
I got a Mercury motor (1989 150HP) that didn't have the trim sender on it where the two screws are on the left side of the tilt and trim unit bracket.
I bought a trim sender used, but does the tab that goes in the slot of the shaft rotate in the sender body, or is the whole plastic part...
I bought a Mariner Magnum 150, serial number A115096, minus the lower unit. It has the whole motor, minus the foot part.
What is the shaft length lower unit I would need? How do I know? I know it's either 20 inch or 25 inch, but how do I know?
