    1968 Mercruiser 160 6 cyl alternator upgrade

    Have a 1968 Mercruiser 160 I6 cyl. with the original 35 amp alternator with electronic voltage regulator. Can I change to a higher AMP alternator and use the same voltage regulator? If so what would be a safe increase in amps with this voltage regulator in mind? Thank you Rich

    1968 Type 1 Out-drive Gimbal Ring Tilt Switch Needs Fix

    :confused: 1968 160 6 cyl. Mercruiser I/O. The Tilt Limit Switch in the top of the gimbal ring in a 1968 Type 1 out-drive has died of old age. Has any body worked out a fix? It is a rubber covered , normally on switch approx. 1 inch in diameter. Please post any and all ideas. Thanks - Rich
