    oil pressure switch hookup

Not so with the posts. There are small pins. I'm just gonna hook it up and see what happens. If the boat blows up it will save me alot of money in the future. (only kidding of course).

    oil pressure switch hookup

I'm thinking it wouldn't make a difference since I've been told if you hook the two wires together is bypasses the switch anyway?

    oil pressure switch hookup

I recently purchased an aftermarket oil pressure switch for my 2002 4.3 mercruiser part #87-864252A01. The old unit has two wires purple (alternator/harness} and purple/yellow fuel pump, electric choke, starter. The new switch has a red and a black wire. How do I know which one goes where...

replace Mercarb on 4.3 with Rochester?

I appreciate the inputs. I'm getting the same results with two different electric fuel pumps so the pressure is not the issue. I'm going to try the Rochester later this week and will post my results. Thanks again for the input.

replace Mercarb on 4.3 with Rochester?

I've checked things inside and cant find anything that's obvious anyway. I just wondered if anybody went the Rochester route. I'm tired of putting money in this mercarb just wanted to go a different route. I understand the "refurbished" hesitancy but I priced a new Mercarb and am not paying $903.

replace Mercarb on 4.3 with Rochester?

I bought a rebuilt last year for 300 and it worked fine until this year then I had issues. Took it to a "carb guy" and he said the float was hanging up on the gasket. Worked fine for a few more months now won't start after running and sitting for a couple hours. I messed with it myself but...

replace Mercarb on 4.3 with Rochester?

I have had continued problems with the original Mercarb 2 bbl on my 2002 4.3. I see a refurbished Rochester replacement on ebay for this application. Has anybody gone this route? I see it says minor fuel line modifications may be needed. Thanks for any help you can offer on this.

    4.3 fuel problem?

I'll have to look I think I have a fuel pressure gauge don't know how I'll attach it to this engine though all steel lines. Maybe somebody makes a unit you can attach easily and leave on the engine?

    4.3 fuel problem?

Well I tried jumping the oil pressure switch today when it did its daily possession, but that didn't work I was sure that would work. I also checked power to the pump and I have that also heard it running when it was jumped. Back to the drawing board I guess.

    4.3 fuel problem?

Rick, Thanks for the quick reply. I totally understand the importance of any safety feature on a boat I would never bypass anything as important as that for more than a minute. I was just looking for a quick diagnosis for my problem. Thanks again for your input it is appreciated.

    4.3 fuel problem?

The pressure switch actually has two wires. If I get in this no start condition again I'm assuming that if I jump these two wires together it will bypass the switch?

    4.3 fuel problem?

I have a 2002 4.3 I/O carb model. Go to the marina start it up runs perfect at idle through full throttle. Shut it off on the lake for 2 or 3 hours. Start it up it idles for roughly 5 seconds then stalls. Won't restart. Pour a little gas in the carb it starts and runs for a couple of...

    4.3 set timing?

Thanks Lou for the reply but it has done it since I've owned the boat (5 years) in which time I've replaced the carb along with tune ups, etc, etc with the same results so I'm beginning to think it's just the nature of this beast and just letting it idle for a couple of minutes might be the best...
