    Tach Question

    1989 Bass Tracker, 40 Evenrude. Tach jumps when the key is first turned on, then goes back to zero and stay there. The battery is being charged while running. Does this mean the Tach is bad? What kind of a reading shoud I get off the gray wire at the tach? Thanks for the help. Raptorman:
