    Any problem going from 21p to 17p prop?

    I took lower unit from 470 merc and put on 140 upper. And I left the 17p prop, cause it was in better shape. Will it do alright on the morphed drive? The boogered up lower from the 140 had a 21p prop. The diameter is the same. Thanks

    Oil injection question?

    This is a '96 40hp ELPTO merc outboard, 4 cyl....I pulled the hose off the oil pump where it comes out to mix with the gas, and turned the motor over several times ( with oil in cylinders and plug wires removed) it is not pumping any oil out.     470 and 140 compatability?

    I have a 1977 140/ 1.98R and I might get a 1978 470/ 1.84R outdrive. Are any of the parts on these 2 models interchangable. Or could I just switch out the whole sterndrive, ie, the 470 to replace the 140. The 470 came off a 6 cylinder and mine is off a 4 cylinder GM. Just need to know if it is...

    Gear removal,pre alpha 140 ???

    I need some help on this lower unit. I have the bearing carrier out (it needs to be replaced), but , how do you get the drive shaft & pinion gear and the prop shaft and gears out of the housing? Also, how does the reverse gear separate from the carrier? Thanks for any input on this.

    I'm having problem separating upper drive from bell housing. I removed 6 nuts and have shift shaft facing forward in drive position. Is there something else I need to do to get this booger off?
