    1987 60 HP water leak from lower powerhead and chokes with the cover on

    For those interested, it turns out the mid section to power head gasket was leaking and the exhaust gases were leaking out and choking the motor when the cover was on. I removed the powerhead and replaced the midsection gasket a second time, this time fully cleaning the old gasket away (my bad)...

    Does the cooling water exit through the inside of the exhaust tube with the exhaust gas or does it run on the outside of the exhaust tube to also cool it. I ask as I have exhaust and water leaking from my lower power head to mid section gasket and I am wondering where it is coming from
