    exhaust conversion questions

    Time for new exhaust manifolds. 77 Carver with the 351 mercruiser, log style manifolds. Seeing conversion packages from some of the suppliers to newer center elbow types. Any advantage to making the switch? it's actually cheaper to make the switch which makes me wonder..

    Rear motor mounts

    Can someone tell me why that spacer is present on the motor mount bolt? Old style with the fiber washer and split washer. 77 351 Alpha 1 combo.

    whats holding my y-pipe in?

    Same story, replaced lower shift cable, found exhaust shutters remnants. Decided to replace, have moved motor forward enough to get the 4 bolts off y-pipe but y-pipe wont seperate from transom. Do have some slight twisting movement, but thats it. I'm assuming the whole thing needs to come off...
