Transom rebuild in a '73 cruisers with seacast

The bottom of my transom is shot in this boat, way too hard to split the deck to get access from the top and full inside access so I'm filling it up with seacast. I already went in through the I/O hole and used an auger bit to remove the wood in the center section of the transom, but the outer...

Mercruiser 888 overheats once at first, fine for rest of the day. Sometimes.

1973ish 888 mercruiser (302) Ford that runs great but when you first put it in and throttle up to get on plane, the temp gauge climbs up to 190-200 degrees before the thermostat opens and the temp falls back to 160 and stays there for the rest of the day. Never had any issue other than that till...

Replace old trim sender with new style on 888 drive?

I've got an 888 drive that uses the hydraulic piston bolted to the transom plate to actuate the sender. The windings in the sender are buggered up and I lost the black plastic piston from it somewhere in the bilge and have never been able to find it. Will the more modern trim senders bolt onto...

    Can I rebuild a '73 888 ford 302 fuel pump?

I'm suspect that my fuel pump is not building enough pressure. Does anyone sell a rebuild kit? I'd need the double diaphragm and the valves. $150 for the whole pump is crazy when I can get a new automotive one for $15. Modern replacements are all sealed anyway so if they leak they would just go...

Cheaper alternative to Bennett trim tab switch?

The joystick TT switch on my cruisers is toast. I have a hard time swallowing $70 for a switch so I am heading down the path of putting something together. Anyone ever make their own that protects the pump? I know it's not just a couple of momentary switches.

Aluminum prop hits hub on OB but SS prop doesn't.

80's inline 6 90hp "tower of power" It has a 15" pitch stainless prop on it now. I went to put on a 17" pitch, larger diameter, aluminum prop that I have laying around and the stepped part of the prop's hub hits the gear case. If I had a second thrust washer for a spacer it would fit without...

1984 mercury 90 hp inline 6 bogs with throttle

just got off the lake and i'm not happy. I never ran the motor after I bought it because it was supposed to need exhaust baffle gaskets. I replaced the gaskets (filed down the ridge) and end seals with genuine merc parts. Looked into exhaust ports during this and they looked like new. pistons...

Chart for poly resin cure times vs. temp vs. MEKP?

Im working with bondo poly resin and I just had a 6oz mix with 55 drops go solid in about 60 seconds. Warm outside which i think is to blame, is it safe to keep going leaner with the mekp? What would happen if I added 5 drops per ounce instead of the recommended 12? just takes longer or does it...

1984 mercury gets water in #6 cyl in water, not on muffs.

Going to look at a motor tommorow for the project boat. Says it runs great on the muffs out of water, but when in the water it gets water into the #6 cylinder. I have a theory, any guesses? o, all cyls have good/same compression.
