Volvo 5.0 OSI-GF Fuel Flow Indication

Unless you add a fuel flow sensor, the system is getting the fuel flow data from the ECM. It's a calculated value based on the fuel the engine is demanding at any given time.

    Power Steering Leaking Into Water?

I had the same thing happen on my SX-A and in my case it was gear oil coming from the prop shaft seal. Earlier SX-As were also known to leak at the trim pump. For the power steering leak the only way I could see that being the source of the oil sheen is if the cooler is leaking into the raw...

    Corrosion on drive

I have a 2014 SX-A drive. I bought the boat in 2019 with 36 hours on it and to my knowledge it had always been kept on the trailer when not in use. My drive looked like absolute trash also. Corrosion in the same areas you are talking about. I cleaned it up and repainted with zinc primer and...

    Volvo Penta SX-A drive U-Joints

Unfortunately the SX-A drive uses sealed U joints that are not serviceable unlike the older M drive.

    Upgrading Trim Tab System

You should be able to use your pump and tabs but the cylinders will need to change as they house the sensors for the position readout. I have not heard very good things about the Auto Trim systems. I have the Bolts currently and in the past I had their hydraulic system with the Electronic...

Would Smart Tabs help with the pounding?

Get the Bennett self leveling tabs. They run about the same price as Smart Tabs but can be upgraded to helm adjustable if desired. You guys have a different perception of value than me. Regardless of what the boat is worth if you can make it ride better and more enjoyable for everyone onboard...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

I owned my Stingray for 5 years before upgrading due to the fact that I boat in rough water often and it would beat you to death. It was fast for sure, but Mr. Fink and his engineering team must boat in a very clam lake to think that the hull design is OK.

Would Smart Tabs help with the pounding?

Smart Tabs will help with bow rise on hole shot and will also help with your ride in rough water by providing more stern lift to your already stern heavy boat. This will allow you to get the bow to cut through the water better. The downside is they are limited on the amount of stern lift they...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

As It gets easier after the 1st one lol. My Stingray was only 2 weeks old and still had the new boat smell when I installed them. It was either drill holes or get a different boat. The ride was that bad!! I put Bennett Bolts on my Chaparral 226 SSI after owning it for 2 years and even though...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

Yes you can use them to force the bow down harder so it cuts through the chop better.

    Boat keeps porpoising.

Since no one else has suggested it I will. Trim Tabs! If you want to be cheap Smart Tabs will help drastically for sub $200. If you want lots of control go with helm adjustable. I had a 19’ Stingray that would beat you to death and was slow out of the hole. Bennett M80 sport tabs 100%...

    Boat rotation/ top speed

So with the right hand prop, when you give it throttle the RPMs come up to 4000RPMs but the boat never gets out of the hole? It just sets there and chugs along at 4000RPMs? You should be on plane and running in the upper 30s at 4000RPMs. Are you sure the hub is not blown out of the prop you...

    Low RPM at WOT

I owned the 19' version (the 198LX) with the 220 HP MerCruiser MPI and a Alpha 1. I ran a 20P 3 blade Enertia and it would run 54-55 MPH on the GPS at ~4700 RPMs. There is no reason the 208LR shouldn't run low 50s if that engine is running right.

Prop Suggestion Needed Volvo Penta SX Drive

Yes they are. RPMs are coming directly from the computer via NMEA 2000 network. If your tach is the analog style it could easily be off. If you don't have it yet get the Mercury Prop Slip Calculator. It can give you lots of good information. For instance when I run your numbers of 43.5MPH...
