    Trim Hydraulics

Salt water used????? You need to manually raise and lower it by jumping solenoid. I have replaced too many of them. They don't like salt water dripping on them. Rebuild rams with new seals. Easy to do! If that doesn't work, replace fluid and pray trim motor doesn't need replacing.

    Engine alignment problem

Make sure you don't have any transom or stringer mount rot. If you have ANY, you should stop and replace rotten wood, re-glass, etc. Trust me!!!!!! I had problems one time due to not seeing a part of the back motor mounts getting bumped off while trying to lower engine onto mount. I believe it...

2002 5,7 Mercruiser exhaust manifold keeps cracking - 5 times this summer

add y pipe flappers and/or increase exhaust manifold thickness by double the gaskets. Your manifold or head may not be perfectly flat. However, I suspect Y pipe shutters (flappers) will reduce cold water entering an exhaust system.

5.7 Cast Iron Intake Manifold - Salt (‘raw’) Water Cooled

Having owned several I/Os over decades that were all saltwater used, rigorously fresh water flushing after every trip will increase block mortality to over ten years and maybe 4-6 years for risers and exhaust manifold. The risers are the first ones to crap out. I'd replace every 4 years and...

Should I pull heads for inspection, 5.7 liter

If saltwater boat and not antifreeze cooled, replace engine. My guess is rings are weak. Maybe valve seals are leaking oil into chamber?

Mercruiser 165's First Engine Align, Having Trouble

Was the rebuild 100% parallel? Correct thickness? I assume you didn't replace outer skin but rebuilt from inside????

    Salt water leak

Someone bumped the y pipe connection. Y pipe bolts to internal housing. You will have to pull motor. This is not uncommon.

    Carb Needle condition / function

For peace of mind and safety concerns, I'd replace the carb. Especially, if boat has been consistently used in saltwater, I'd replace it. Condensation is a nightmare for boaters.

Alpha one gen II leaking water near hydraulic hoses

Having totally replaced a twin MC transom and twin partial transom, I can state that it will be a job, if you have the proper tools!!! If you don't have tools, drag boat to a scrap yard. If you saltwater fish, you should be able to sell for scrap or another fisherman will tow it offshore to make...

Can I use this Y pipe

If that is salt water exposed, good luck finding a competent welder to rebuild it. The salt really f-up aluminum. Remember, this pipe can sink you!
