    Bought a boat with an 80 hp 89 merc. Said they ran it last year.... ran a cold compression test at 85 90 90. Got it home and it started right up. Seemed a little rough but I'm used to my 6 cylinder 135. Fogged for a bit with seafoam. Then tested compression. 85 95 95. Top cylinder weak...

    I have an 86 fiberglass Starcraft with some soft spots in the floor. It has a great running 135 Mercury on it. I am looking for a lighter fishing boat that will handle bigger waves and keep the kids in as well. I came across an 89 ss160 with an 89 Mercury 80hp. What should I be looking for...
