    Rev limiter value

I'm trying to re-prop the boat and making runs with different props to check performance, verify WOT, etc. I have the diacom cable and software hooked up so I can monitor the engine (5.0 GXi-E)....specifically the engine speed. I went down in prop size and the motor didn't rev any faster so i...

    Need different prop for pulling

I guess I don't understand your comment. I always go full throttle when getting on plane. It doesn't instantly rev to 4800. It will increase RPM as it comes on plane and then speeds up. Thanks.

    Need different prop for pulling

I was just going off this post from Don S. and the manual: If fuels with 89 AKI pump posted (93 RON) octane number or higher are not available, lower octane fuels (minimum 87 AKI [90 RON] octane) can be used. With the use of lower octane fuel, a slight decrease in power can be expected...

    Need different prop for pulling

Thanks for the response. I would say 7 is atypical, but I am not opposed to being a little underpropped if I had a couple less onboard. It would be nice to have the ability to comfortably get on plane pulling a tube and 17 may be the sweet spot for that. I can keep the 21 for the times it is...

    Need different prop for pulling

Funny thing is, this boat originally had a 4.3L V6 in it. I thought it sounded small so I upgraded it when I replaced the motor to get more HP. Regal told me they offered the boat with the 5.0L and I might need a 21 due to the larger motor, so that is where I started. I believe the WOT is...

    Need different prop for pulling

Currently have a Volvo 3 blade stainless 14.75x21 on my 2006 Regal Destiny. I believe it is 22.5' with the swim platform and comes in about 3400lbs. Running a VOLVO Penta 270HP 5.0GXi with 1.66 SX drive. It works good for 2 people and even when we had 7, I could pull a skier with some effort...

    Aftermarket fuel pump recommendations

They all have paint and will all fail again so either strip it before installing or plan on replacing again soon. I got 3 hours out of my last one. I took my new one apart and completely stripped all the paint before installing it.

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

So to put a pin in this...I took the boat out and to my complete surprise, it ran great. Fuel pressure stayed 57-58 psi. Temp was good. Oil pressure well within spec. Ran like a champ. Weird thing is while sitting in the water waiting for the trailer, I revved it up in neutral to the same...

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

Not brand new. Motor is a 2003 with brand new long block.

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

I pulled all the plugs. They all looked like the example pictured here. The gas is old so I drained the fuel cell and the fuel filter and put new gas in them and ran off an external tank. No change. Something else that is strange is it will die after running for a few seconds. It sounds...

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

I have not had it out since putting in the new motor. Trying to make sure everything is good to go before hitting the water. I have plug wires on the way and I have some plugs with ~ 15 minutes on them that i could swap in to try. Weird thing is, even when the old motor was knocking due to...

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

Thanks for the info. Here is a picture taken looking down about as straight as I can. Yes, this is still on the trailer. I just hate to get to the water and have the same miss, but if that is the only way to test it accuratley, then I guess I will have to do that. I never knew the ECM would...

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

Thank you for the input. I put the new ACDelco cap and Delphi rotor on and no difference. Here is my setup in the pics. I tried and couldn't get the rotor to point any closer to the mark than what I have it. I may be a degree or 2 short of TDC, but that is not much at the distributor. I...

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

I never knew that the ECM would limit the engine speed in neutral. I don't remember it ever doing that. This is a rebuilt motor, but all the sensors and such are the same so I wouldn't think there would be much "learning" involved with the new motor. I have a new cap, rotor, and regulator...

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

When I installed the distributor, the rotor was pointing right at the protrusion on the distributor as shown in the pic. Beyond that, I can't find any info on how to adjust the timing. The distributor won't turn but maybe 10-15 degrees total before hitting the intake. How do you check/adjust...

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

So I cleaned the screen on the regulator even though it didn't look bad. A few specs of stuff, but not clogged for sure. Now it is running at ~46-47 psi. So it is low now, but I still have the misfire at higher RPM and it doesn't want to start unless I give it a little throttle, whereas it...

Would high fuel pressure cause misfire

Fuel pressure is high at 70-72 psi. Can even smell gas, so it is running rich. It idles OK, but around 2500 RPM it develops a miss. This is all in the driveway, BTW. The plugs, cap, rotor, and wires all have under 5 hours (probably closer to 2) on them since replacement. While I wait for my...

    Coupler alignment

I can't seem to get it to stick in a new position. With heavy lines at 3-oclock (as viewed from the rear) do the front mounts need to go towards that direction or away? There is not much adjustment since the rear washers are sitting in the recess. TIA

    Coupler alignment

I left the bottom of the front mounts in the boat and just removed the front and rear mount nuts to pull the motor. I figured that would be the best way to get the new motor to line back up. The rear mounts have the washers in the recess so I am not really sure what to move. I guess I could...
