    1955 Scott Atwater 16hp - remote hook-up steering assembly

I'm in search of the remote hook-up steering assembly for a '55 16hp Scott. I have one half of the bracket, but I'm missing the part that the rings or hooks from the cable steering would attach to. I believe the part number would be 3945-3630, 3955-3630 or 3965-3630. See attached catalog image...

1955 Scott Atwater 16hp 3955 Bail-a-Matic with control box rebuild

I've had this motor for about a year now (it's currently Sept 2018) and I have been tinkering on it little by little in hopes to have on a wooden boat one day. Most delays are due to waiting for a particular part to become available. It is all now coming to a head and it should be ready soon...

1955 Scott Atwater restoration - need coils

I?ve been rebuilding old motors for a while, but this is my first atwater. Everything is complete and functioning perfect, but I can?t find the coils I need anywhere. From my research, I believe they should be Wico X7120 or aftermarket part #5-5009. Please let me know if I?m wrong...

1941-46 Evinrude Sportwin - rebuild, sell, or part?

Hi people, Question - Please tell me what you think about the pictured motor. I picked it up from a coworker for $40, and I don't know much about it. I have rebuilt and restored several mid 50's Gale- Hiawatha, Buccaneer, Sea King, and a couple of mid 50's Mercurys. I have never done an...

Why is the '72 650 primary pickup 0-2 degrees and all others are 3-5 degrees?

Why is the primary pickup setting on the mercury 650 1972 different than all of the other years? The reason I ask, is because my carbs are off of a '74. After setting the link and sync to near perfect with the primary pickup at 0-2, my idle timing turns out to be around 5 degrees btdc, and my...

1972 Mercury 650 Thunderbolt 65 HP ...Extra Spark on cylinder #1?...

On my motor listed above, I was setting the link and sync - no major issue. But, when I was manually turning the flywheel with a timing light on the plug wire #1, the trigger would send an EXTRA spark to cylinder #1 about an inch before the belt alignment mark - I'm guessing that this would be...

1972 Mercury 650 Link and Sync - quick question

I've been pulling what little hair I have left out of my head. The belt alignment procedures in almost everything I've read says to line up the nub on the rotor to the flat raised area on the rotor housing when the timing pointer is lined up with the belt alignment mark on the timing sticker on...
