    Keeping a boat slipped

Is there an age when the gel coat deteriorates and you should not keep a boat in the water all season? I've heard things about different boat manufacturers and blistering gelcoat.

Electrical problems on Bayliner capri 1800 with force 120hp

After running all day I brought boat in to launch site. Backed trailer in and went back to boat to load. Turned the key and nothing. Checked neutral safety and still nothing. Checked lanyard switch and still nothing. Tried the tilt/trim….nothing. Now I did notice while running the volt meter was...

    Chris-craft 25 Crowne

I'm going to look at a 1996 25 Crowne. Any advise on what I should look out for? Areas I should pay particular attention to? Has a VP I/o. If it's nice I'll hire a surveyor to go over it.

Need some help considering a single engine cruiser

I'm looking at Four Winns 268 Vista cruisers. I would really like to move to a boat with room. But not too much room. Any pros or cons on the Vista cruiser? I ran across a 2000, 268 for around $24,000. It's a 28 footer. Thoughts?

Need a good matching rod for Shimano Spirex RG 2500 reel

I'm a little out of touch with big water freshwater fishing. Last rod and reel I bought was a Mitchell 300 with Abu-Garcia rod. I have been trout fishing for the last 30 yrs. and want to get back to big water. I really want a Shimano Spirex RG 2500 reel but don't know what brand rod would match...

    Cost per foot

Does anyone have a general idea of the cost of a rebuild? Stringers, bulkheads, transom and floor for moderate craft. Say 18 ft. bowrider? Driving around I see alot of boats that haven't moved in years. Was wondering about rebuilds and resales.

    Engine mount Trim/tilt switch

I have a 1995 Force 120 hp outboard and want what was called an optional trim switch. Lower cowl mounted switch to operate the trim motor. I have seen these for $76 but want one that is'nt gold plated. Anybody parting out an old Force that has one of these switches at a reasonable price?

    Fall Boat Blues

Like the title says.....I bought a boat late in the year, real late. One of those I don't want to winterize and store so sell it cheap deals. I have been working on it for about 3 wks. Now I have winterized it and have it ready to go next season. I turned 60 this year and I don't recognize my...

    Winterizing

Does it make sense to remove the lower unit on an outboard and store it in your house?

1702265 horn, under deck 12vdc dream white grill

I'm having a heck of a time finding this part for a 1995 Bayliner Capri. Bayliner won't sell to me and local Bayliner dealer is being ridiculous. Part not stocked. Have to order. Need money first and will call when in. The ridiculous part is the price. It's just a 5"X 2.5" plastic grill...

What do you use to cut gel coat

I want to bring back the gel coat on a used boat. What type of rubbing compound do most of you use? I'm also confused on wether to use a random orbit or rotary buffer. I've read that heat cuts the gel coat and that only the rotary gets the rpms needed. If I had a random orbit that has the same...

I tried this on a different topic but no responses. The horns not working on my bowrider. I can't reach it to test for power when switched. I have power at the switch. How do I get at it? Thanks.

    1995 Bayliner 1800 Capri LS

Hi all. I'm new to the forum. I just purchased a '95 Bayliner Capri LS with 120hp Force. Have not had it on the water yet and as a matter of fact have not gotten it home yet. It ran well with muffs on. Good floor and generally well kept. Very sharp looking boat. Wondering if it was a good first...
