    Buddy of mine is saying might be a head gasket. Should I pop one on while I have the carb off to clean? I've done heads on cars, but never small engine. Figured since already half apart might as well do....thoughts?

    That's what I thought lol. I'm going to grab a tester like suggested above and see what I get. What would cause it to be out of time? Would that be the drift pin? I replaced the coil last year

    Tried that before as well....not sure it was 6 and half drops, but it didn't do anything.

    Yep, I actually had to drill out the cap that was covering the screw, as the adjustment was still factory sealed. Put the new needle in that came with the carb kit. And yep, adjusted. It was running like a champ for the past 3 months.

    Oh I had it all apart, didn't just toss it in the cleaner lol. It was down to bare carb before soaking.

    Great thanks. I had soaked it in Chem-sip originally. Then sprayed down with carb cleaner. Maybe I will go grab an ultrasonic cleaner.

    Do I need to get anther rebuild kit, or because I just had it apart a few months ago, I can just disassemble, clean and put back together?

    Holding plug against block. Nice bright spark on both plugs.

    That would be nice if it was simple lol, but those are the ones that kill ya lol. I tried spraying brake clean right into carb and it still won't run. Should have fired right up given it has spark. So popping head off is my next step I take it?

    Carb was off so I could inspect the reed plates. Didn't help when I put it back together. I'll check the flywheel key. Does that compression seem really low? From what I am seeing, it should be about 120.

    Oil Change Vacuum Merc Adapters

    Awesome, thanks. I wasn't sure if it needed to be sealed for whatever reason. I always thought the the vac systems you just popped the hose to the bottom of the pan and off you go. I was honestly a bit surprised there was so much to the merc with all the adapters.

    Can someone tell me what these wires are for?

    That's for setting the timing. You need to install a jumper I believe to put it into timing mode if you are hitting it with a light and setting your timing. Forgot the actual procedure, but if you look up timing procedure, it was pretty easy.
