    The Alpha One stern drive has maximum HP rating of 300, as published by Mercruiser. That said, what is the maximum HP that an MC-1 can handle? Was it ever published? It seems to me that early MC260, vintage 1978 thru 1982, used the MC-1.

    Prop Shaft HP for Mercruiser 165 inline 6

    Does anyone know how much shaft output a Mercruiser 165 inline 6 can muster? I see that Merc publishs this data for more modern 5.7 V8s, but can find nothing on the 165. I ask because I am trying to compare apples to apples, with respect to an engine upgrade.

    Can I plumb inline a round trip heater hose to the bow, and run hot engine coolant to a heat exhanger? Can the engine water pump handle that additional load, say of a 20' round trip loop? Or is this a bad idea? Warm feet would be a welcome addtion, during the winter boating season...
