    1972 Starcraft Nova

My Nova was a 15ft, so I was able to cut them from an 8ft sheet. If you can't fit them diagonal to get them out of an 8ft sheet, I'd just piece them together with a backer being mindful of the inside shelf. I'd use 4x8 1/2" ACX from Menards ($42.09 here at present) and seal it with a few coats...

    '77 Holiday Transom

I typically use the US Composites 635 thin with the 3:1 ratio medium hardener. I paint the exposed side after the epoxy cures.

    '77 Holiday Transom

Yes, and encapsulate with a 2 part epoxy. I generally use 3/4" ACX plywood from the big box stores.

    1972 Starcraft Jupiter New Project

The side panels are screwed to the floor, riveted to the inside tray (about halfway up the panel/likely behind that trim?), riveted to the rear vertical support, and screwed to the top trim piece. That top trim piece is riveted on the underside to the gunnel. The lower trim piece that screws to...

    1973 StarCraft SS 16 Restore

Each rib. You can see where the original holes were from the factory. I always go through and remove and replace all the rivets regardless. They get loose over time and the new rivets tighten everything back up again.

    1973 StarCraft SS 16 Restore

That's a first for me, and rather strange. Not even sure what they were trying to accomplish, but it does look intentional. The good news is, you have the factory bracing. Not sure if those cuts will be of any concern or not. Based on how the ribs are secured/riveted all across the bottom of the...

    1973 StarCraft SS 16 Restore

My first step on a gut job is usually always to remove the motor, but I guess it's just personal preference. If you have the stand, I'd just go ahead and pull it. Don't really think it's going to impact anything much if the boat is just sitting there. I'd be more concerned if I were planning on...

    Transom Reinforcement

With a solid transom, knee brace, splashwell, decking, and respective factory bracing which tends to vary from model to model, you shouldn't really need to add anything additional for a 300lb motor. Where problems tend to occur is when trying to run heavier/higher HP motors on compromised...

    Boat Cover

Keeping this in the Starcraft forum as I'm primarily interested in feedback on these old hulls. Looking for a cover for my MR180. It usually sits in the garage, but I'd like something to keep the dust off over the winter and the occasional times it may sit outside to protect from rain. Also...

    Tiller Main Motor

It all depends on how you mount the kicker. A lot of kickers are short shaft motors, but you can find them pretty easily in a long shaft configuration, and even some 25" setups with the newer options. Splashwells vary from Starcraft model to model as well. My MR180 has a much shallower...

    1972 Starcraft Nova

I'd say at least 2, maybe 3 cans. I don't recall what I used, but I know it was more than one.

    New Journey

I grabbed the trays too, but didn't install them. Figured I'd like the extra cargo space.

    New Journey

They are the Tempress brand. They have a few different sizes, colors, and options available.

    New Journey

Boat took a backseat to some needed landscaping projects and kid's activities, but managed to get the trolling motor batteries all wired up and the front deck in place. The end is near...just need to clean up some of the wiring and get everything buttoned up.

    '77 Holiday Transom

Come check out the Starcraft forum as well. Lot's of info on Holidays and other models from previous restorations. https://forums.iboats.com/forum/starcraft-boats.131/

    '77 Holiday Transom

As noted, it's not glued in, just several through bolts and screws under the splashwell. You'll also need to punch out the spashwell drain tubes, remove the corner caps, and bend up the gunnel caps where they cover the transom. You might need to work on it a bit to break it free, but once it's...

    1972 Starcraft Nova

How long do you intend to keep the boat? From the factory, these decks were typically unsealed and lasted many years. Not sure how many coats of Spar you have on there now, but the vinyl should also prevent/minimize any water exposure to the wood once you have it put down. I personally would...

    Lower unit repair

Can these holes just be filled with JB WaterWeld or MarineTex, sanded, and finished, or is there another recommended repair? How about this one - I suppose it would need to have some material welded on, shaped, and finished?

115 6c TOP piston cylinder issue

Not to highjack the thread, but genuinely interested and the information may be helpful to others as well. I plugged my hoses with a BB, but still have both ends connected. Is there any harm in not leaving the barb on the fuel bowl cover open? Great information here, thanks!
