Expanding foam (for transom reinforcement) Anyone done this?

A "Kickout" I believe are indeed the two "boxes" on either side of the outdrive under swim platform. Has anyone tried to pour 2 part (closed cell) foam into a kickout? Tips would be good as 1. I don't want the 30x expansion of this foam to crack the hull?? 2. Want to somehow fill but not...

Expanding foam (for transom reinforcement) Anyone done this?

Kickout got water in it, Dug out old and ready to pour in new. Has anyone done this? Any issues with expansion and cracking of hull or gelcote exterior? What product did you use? The foam I dug out seems not overly dense, does anyone know if this is just flotation foam? Thank you!

Expanding foam (for transom reinforcement) Anyone done this?

Kickout of Stingray 185 got water in, I repaired. I'm about to put in "Gelcote expanding foam" (30x its volume) and I'm realizing there are a lot of considerations!! Does anyone have experience doing this as a kick out pour? I believe part of the foams purpose is transom reinforcement but its...

stripped SX-A (3L VP) dipstick threads

Thanks for the great replies, have a Marina (Hurst Marina) who said they do helicoil all the time. Easy as this job appears as DIY I think I'll bring it to them although I agree a time sert makes more sense. I would silicone top each year in case of leaks

stripped SX-A (3L VP) dipstick threads

I read a Threadsert may be the way to go? Can anyone confirm the thread gage for SX-A outdrive thread and/or dipstick thread? Can I take the top off carefully, insert threadsert and just re-use the shims/gasket if ok? Can the dipstick be reused with threadsert as this will widen top hole? Cecil...

    waterlogged foam in bowrider

Thanks to all for the excellent thoughts. I should mention the water is only on one side. The only obvious hardware- the tie downs aren't loose, not sure how I can tell if they are leaking. Guess I'll silicone around them? Question: can water "wick" upwards in this foam do you think, or only...

    Engine Oil viscosity mixing?

Winterizing time. 3L 2007 Volvo Penta Have leftover SAE 30 synthetic as specified in manual. Can I mix this what the marina recommended which is 25/40 synthetic? Do we agree 25/40 is a good viscosity for 3L carb'd engine? (Canada)

    Starter motor metalic "ting" sound.

2007 3L (red) It sounds like a momentary metalic"ting" as the starter disengages. Maybe making contact with thin piece of thin metal when retracting perhaps? Is that an unpainted "spacer" I see between starter motor and flywheel? Could I be risking flywheel damage? Anyone know what is causing...

    Bellows ground wires cut SX-A

Wires were discovered cut when I changed tilt motor and saw reference to the clamp clips. Boat not trailered. Had boat 2 years and clamps perfect but serious corrosion in pivot area and transom shield (I think the forward annode was disabled by being covered in slime (weedy/algae lake)

    Bellows ground wires cut SX-A

Wow, so kind of you to put time into this! Yes all good clues, nothing that ties it all together as a "circuit" but I can piece it together thanks. Looks like its a job for when the bellows are changed. Thanks again, kind people like you keep the world a good place to live.
