    Painting drive with delfleet

Hello, I want to try another paint/process for one of my transom plates. I dropped it off to have it laser cleaned so its basically going to be perfectly clean from paint corrosion and grease. I want to etch it with muriatic acid, and then apply alodine. For paint, has anyone tried painting...

Low Fuel Pressure 2005 Mercruiser 4.3L MPI

What is the fuel pressure doing if you turn on the pump? What is the reading? What is the reading as soon as the pump turns off? How fast does the pressure drop to 0 after the pump turns off? Did you check for WATER in fuel at the rail?

Low Fuel Pressure 2005 Mercruiser 4.3L MPI

Yes. I think you can also use a 3/8 NPT plug. let the pump run a few cycles before looking for air in order for the air that got in while messing with it to get purged. also MAKE SURE to check for water in fuel.

A motor question on Cristmas day uggh

I'd fill the holes with some kind of epoxy mixed with fumed silica.

Low Fuel Pressure 2005 Mercruiser 4.3L MPI

Hang on, just checked your serial number and it seems that you do not have a LP pump, sorry for the mistake. Most of these do so I blindly assumed you have one. I stand corrected. But still do the clear hose test on the return from the HP pump and the clear hose test from the tank to check for...

Low Fuel Pressure 2005 Mercruiser 4.3L MPI

Ugh, you need to do some proper diagnostics to find out what is going on. Don't be a parts cannon (otherwise your dealer parts guy will love you). Here is a little procedure you can follow, I hope it helps: Disconnect the dump line from the cool fuel module at the filter housing. Throw a chunk...

Anyways, one down. Still a couple of hoses left to connect when I get the manifolds, but the motor is otherwise complete. Now for the second motor!

gotta be careful as play sand will create nasty silica dust in the blasting cabinet. Usually I use crushed glass that is specially made for blasting and doesn't create silica dust.

    Axius Gen 1 Removal

Well, I will chime in here with my 2c. The thing is, finding parts for gen 1 axius is stupid difficult (I tried, most parts are NLA). However, if parts are needed, I heard that you can install the newer style actuator and reprogram the TVM to slow the new actuator down to the gen 1 speed (will...

    350 mpi rebuild questions

Well, you internet warriors have convinced me to grab that stainless head gaskets. Got the marine 17030 felpro gaskets for 29 bucks each, so not too bad. Non marine were 15 bucks but its not too bad of a price diff. Picked up new crab caps and belts while I was at it. Hopefully I can get the...

    350 mpi rebuild questions

Well, I tried communicating to the cooked ECM through K-TAG, but no luck, I think its really toasted. I guess I will keep it around for spare parts. On the positive side, I bought a whole box of 350 mpi ECMs with some good ones to use and some bad ones to tinker with. When digging through them...

to replace the transom or not?

Last one took me about 3 or 4 days to do, I could probably do this one in 7 or so, its just that ripping the old wood out is a PITA. I don't really mind grinding or glassing, its getting the old wood out from behind the stringers. Anyways, looks like its time to start cutting.

to replace the transom or not?

Hello, while doing an engine swap and engine room repaint on my boat, my attention was brought to some VERY shoddy workmanship on the factory layup. A lot of the area on the transom had a bunch of gelcoat just rolled onto the wood without any glass, and of course if has cracked and peeled. I of...

    Bravo 3 bearing shims

I will look closer... Serial number is worn off a while ago, but I do know it uses the later thickness washers and the four piece bearing without the spacer on the input shaft.

    Bravo 3 bearing shims

Hello everyone, Been rebuilding my bravo 3 upper after water got in and pitted some of the bearings. Luckily the gears survived it seems. Most of the bearings were easy to source, but the thrust bearing washers are confusing (parts 7 and 11) Mercruiser says that the bearing race thickness...

    350 mpi rebuild questions

Well, it seems like I am going down the rabbit hole of DIY. I have a partially burned ECM555 from an engine that caught fire. I cant really sell it because the plastic connector is a little charred, but it otherwise looked intact. I surely am not going to throw it out. You know what that...

    350 mpi rebuild questions

Well, I still havent got the block from the machine shop yet, but I am trying to figure out the closed cooling situation. Does anyone know the difference between the closed and open cooling version of the ECM? Any harm if I throw a RWC ECM on a FWC motor?

    350 mpi rebuild questions

Well at this point someone mentioned that a steel shim gasket will leak and I then said to hell with the quench. To make matters worse, most marine head gaskets are 0.039. I went ahead and got flattop pistons 1.548 high and that gives my 9.4 compression with a marine head gasket. If it ends up...

    Wake boat fuel supply issues

After some googling I figured out what the big fitting is, apparently its a tank vent valve (TVV). Also found this little diagram online and the setup I am dealing with might be sort of similar with the addition of two more vent lines and a return line from the engine. I think the two...
