    Thanks for the help guys. I've rebuilt my 283 and it sounds great. I did get some bad advise from a neighbor who said that I should gear oil into the transmission. I am currently flushing it and putting in the type f transmission fluid.<br />thanks again for all the good advice :D

    lubricants

    I've just replaced the engine in my 1968 Owens Sea Skift (283 chev)and the transmission won't go into gear. I suspect that it's the oil is very low (I spilt it removing it) On the dip stick it says use type a lubricant. is this transmission oil or hydrolic...

    I have a 283 engine with a cracked head. I bought another engine out of a car. The numbers on the heads are not the same but the heads look identical. Are they enterchangeable?

    change to 350 marine

    If I take a standard 350 chev motor and change it to replace my 283 marine engine what changes will I have to make if any?

    Is 200 hp enough

    I have an Owens sea skiff, It's 25' and weighs in at about 6,000 lbs. I'm having trouble plaining out(it won't) I'm wondering if the 283 chev just isn't enough motor. I have it out of the boat to rebuild it but I'm thinking maybe a 350 would do the trick.<br />Any thoughts on this subject would...
