tilt and trim Johnson 50HP 2000

Pump side? It should all work through one hole, so I don't understand that. Also, hook it all up then do it period. Without weight, your not "purging" anything. Does the motor and pump sound like it's cavitation when you have failure or does it quit running? Last but not least, with the motor...

1995 Johnson SPL extra telltale question

Getting a pic of the actual hole would settle it for sure. If it looks like a hole a manufacturing company would make...it probable is. Test to see if the overheat alarm system is working...did the motor get hot? All clues.

One plug, one jumper wire....so easy.

    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

I guess that's what you mean about bypass? I'm like AI....some wire somewhere.... corrosion.

    2005 PLSOR cuts after starting

Reading through the thread here...am I missing something? Have you unplugged the control box and jumped it at the motor? Kill circuit, wife overboard clip.

    1975 25 hp evinrude 25502B

Pull it at night...might see flashes. If you got hit, something zapping. You might have two shorts or two problems. Again, wiring is suspect...old and if it got hot once, insulation melts. Seen it more than once.

    1975 25 hp evinrude 25502B

Tiller or remote motor? 5/16 gap like suggested? Yes or no? GAP testers are inexpensive. 1/8 inch turns or 1/8 of a turn? Spark has to advance to start cold. I've been hit myself....motor harness was the culprit. Is there fiber washers between the ignition coil and powerhead?

Shifting into reverse is really hard

How is the rest of the shifting apparatus now that the gearcase is off? Should be floppy. Very little resistance.

    Etec 75 hp

Yeah...I own E-tec's too so I'm a fan. Looks like a pontoon boat motor? Might explain all the idling hrs. Be nice to know more history but if it's ok you will love that motor. Btw, BRP is still around just not making the outboard...their also still making parts and warranty for the g2, but...

Key won’t crank like it’s not in position

That little sucker is hard to find. I believe this is the part number and Crowley has one. Google lens and AI came up with it. During my search it called it a fuel enrichment but I couldn't get back there...this one calls it the neutral safety switch. I know what you mean...no moving parts so...

Key won’t crank like it’s not in position

My uncle used to sell those motors when he owned an Evinrude franchise. I was just a wee little boy back then...the 115 was the biggest they had. Not really sure if this is it but the name of the part seems right. Pretty sure you can ground your solenoid and bypass it but I could be wrong. I...
