    Fuel gauge not working

No doubt. I think I paid even less for the sender I replaced in my boat. Assuming you have easy access to it the job is super easy.

Wide, classic style boat (helm) seats?

I'm curious how comfortable those cooler seats would be as helm seating. I was thinking about replacing my helm seat with a swiveling bucket seat but the cooler option would a big space saver. My only concern would be that it doesn't sit high enough. I'll have to take some measurements and...

    Causes for concern?

Bad exhaust bellows won't sink it but if that one is bad you'd better check the drive bellow above it because that one WILL sink ya.

small pocket in floor of 1989 Searay 220 Sundancer

Do you use the shower much? Wondering if you have a plumbing leak or something. I found the manual for this boat (I used to own one btw) over on the Club Sea Ray website and it mentions a sump pump for the shower. Could be related?

Perhaps that panel gives access to the fuel tank. I have a similar panel in my '87 Cobalt.

    Sun Runner construction

Given the age of the boat the stringers are probably wrapped in fiberglass at best, not solid fiberglass structures.

    Delco EST High Idle

Problem solved. I forgot to adjust the idle screw after making adjustments to the throttle linkage. :) After a year of work I'm finally ready for a shakedown run!

Good news! Replacing the 50amp breaker got me back up and running again. Wiring up the shift interrupt switch had me stumped for a while until I figured out that the terminal block I was using to connect the wires was inadvertently grounding out the connection which prevented it from firing...

Thanks alldodge.. I'm going to try replacing the break and see if that does the trick.

Correct. I jumped the two terminals on top of the solenoid. I'm STILL trying to track down the problem. I tried disconnecting the leads to the shift interrupt to see if that had any effect but no dice. I still get a single "click" when trying to start it. Typically it pops the breaker...

Side note.. This version of the 5.7 does not have the 90 amp fuse on the starter. I guess my next step is going to be replacing the solenoid relay.

Well crap, I think I screwed things up by completely removing the ground when I should have kept the ground and added a second wire from that same connection point and running it to the purple wire. I corrected this but now all i get is a click when trying to start it. Perhaps I fried the...

    89 Sunbird Corsair 185 Manual

I think the general consensus is that most boats don't have manuals. Shop manuals for the engine and outdrive should be readily available though.

Got it. I was second guessing myself and was worried i might damage something by wiring it up incorrectly. Thank you!

Ok, so looking over the wiring diagram that came with the new distributor and have some questions regarding the shift interrupt connection as I suspect I have it incorrectly wired up presently. I have the shift interrupt lead going from the distributor to one side of the shift interrupt switch...

Hey, you were right! Much to my surprise there was a tiny bit of tension on the throttle. Backed it off and I'm now idling around 1K rpm. Still too high but much better... Haven't tackled the shift interrupt connection issue yet.

You're correct about the shunt. When I connect it to a 12v power source the system does enter base timing mode. When I disconnect it from the 12v power source the engine immediately turns off. I may have to call Sierra tomorrow and see if their techs can advise me on the situation.

I had the idle screw on the carb backed all the way down until it wasn't touching the throttle.
