    Impeller housing overheating

It's a pretty solid stop. I'll try and record it next time. I'll also record next to the office on the hose maybe you can give me some insight to weather it's making excessive noise or not. The sound I'm almost positive it's from the outside but it's hard to say 100% as I'm at the helm. Lou...

    Impeller housing overheating

Have not been able to check dwell yet. I will do it this weekend as I found out the multi meter I have is not the same as the one needed to check dwell. I did get it down to the water. Ran it at idle perfectly at 6° advanced no problems. Ran it out of the no wake zone in gear at idle, no...

    Impeller housing overheating

So far I've been able to get a timing light and check the timing. Right outta the gate, bam timing is not correct. It was showing approx 18° advanced at idle. I brought it back down to 6. I'm trying to test the dwell with my multi meter. My question is this. Is it just hooking the...

Update #400 it's been an eventful evening. Got the boat in the water fired right up idled for 5 minutes and pulled off the dock. Ran in gear at idle for a minute then ran the throttle up. As I crossed about 2k rpms the motor started acting up. Kinda bucking a bit. I pulled power and it died...

    Impeller housing overheating

That'll be the next thing I do. Almost took it out today after getting everything put back together. Weather was awful and I was soaked after installation. Hopefully I can sneak out after work one day this week. Im going to pickup a cordless IR temp gun and I'll check the temps. A question...

    Impeller housing overheating

Sourced it locally, turned out to be the 1/2" thread. PN is TS26631 got it installed and fired up the motor on the hose. Temp never went above 145 which I think would be correct with a 140° thermostat in there. I let it idle for about ten to fifteen minutes could feel the water pump hose warm...

    Impeller housing overheating

Thanks guys for the feedback, do you think that the lack of flow would cause the engine to seize and this happen to the plugs? I'm assuming this is why when it dies it acts like it's seized until it cools down. It would also explain why it cranks like a dead battery until it cools down enough...

    Impeller housing overheating

The solenoid was good however coming from the solenoid going to the starter was a fused line. It is an older glass fused line and when I wiggled the line it was causing it to cutout. It was slightly corroded inside there. I cut it out and replaced it with a large spade fuse.. the cranking was...

    Impeller housing overheating

Ended up being the same issue, made it out no problem. Anchored up spent 4 hours on the island, loaded up and left. Less than two minutes into the trip back the engine quit. Came in on the kicker again. Everything that happened before, happened again. Got it home and it starts right up...

    Impeller housing overheating

I'll check the solenoid, this boat when I got it had a loose connection at the trim solenoid. I'm pretty sure I saw another one there.

    Impeller housing overheating

I'm fearing hydrolock Lou, the way it won't crank at all immediately after dying, but then cranking after letting it sit? Each crank getting harder to turn it would seem. Then by the time I get it home 45 minutes later it fires right up on the muffs. I'll pull the spark arrestor off and take a...

    Impeller housing overheating

Took it out again today with the whole family. Went out great, got on the island and hung for about 4 hours, loaded back up to head out and after about two minutes boat died again. Would not restart. Just clicked like the starter was trying but nothing. Gave it a few minutes and it cranked...

    Impeller housing overheating

I started digging first thing this morning, sure enough found a ground and power wire loose. Power was corroded and I had to wirebrush it and tighten it down. Looks like the ground cable was barely held down with a bolt. I went to tighten it and its the wrong size! I dug through my "bolt...

    Impeller housing overheating

Had a weird thing happen today. Last run out on the river to run the gas down some more before throwing new gas in it. Ran out to fish for a couple hours. The current was dead and decided to troll. Ran at idle for about thirty minutes motor dies nothing new at idle (possible timing) I'll...

Anybody have an issue after running the throttle up, of it not dropping back down to base rpms? It seems to stick at about 900 is that something I can adjust at the linkage?

    Impeller housing overheating

Thank you guys for the feedback. Can I time it on the muffs? It'll be a challenge if it needs to be done at the dock lol.

    Impeller housing overheating

I hate when people never update so here's an update. Got the interior mostly tied out still working on a wall for the transom and installing some sort of folding seats on either side of the doghouse. Got her on the water last weekend, she ran great considering there was 40 gallons of 7 month...

    Impeller housing overheating

Should idle be between 800-900 rpm? Or is that too high? How hard is that drive to remove? Also what should I be using to remove any deposits if there are any? Sorry for all the questions, trying to do it right and not screw it up. I'm fine digging in and getting dirty, I just need pointed...
