    Electric outboards

I have talked to Elco several times. They said you put it on and plug it in. I am trying to find someone who has done the whole project. Battery installation and electronic throttle and all. Elco's videos kind of gloss over that. I will post pictures and comments as I go along. Wr just put...

And we got four sheets of plywood down yesterday. The 5th one needs trimming and I didn't feel confident doing it from the wheelchair. My daughter and sister-in-law did the work. I handed them tools and advice.

I am rebuilding a pontoon and am planning to put an Elco 20hp on it. Does anybody here do electrics? I am starting to have set up questions.

OK, That answers the question & I will go ahead keep planning on batteries in the seats. In other news, we patched the hole and pressure tested the 'toon. Everything looks good. Hauling the decking over today and put it on tomorrow.

Thanks! That is what I thought. Little vent grids should be cheap and easy to install. We just ran over to to the workshop and the old wooden seats we took off have vents of some sort in every base.

As I mentioned earlier, we are converting the boat to an Elco electric outboard. Since the boat is relatively small and my wheelchair uses a lot of deck I have been planning to put the batteries in the seats which are going to be the Classic Pontoon seats from Pontoon Stuff. I tried to get...

We found the hole. My little gage rig worked. It looks like the point of a nail. In the picture the black thing is the cap of a large sharpie. Next week we patch it.

I was thinking the volume issue as well. I have a tiny craftsman "hot dog" compressor. The pontoon is many times bigger than the tank but the tank is 90 psi and the pontoon is 3. I do think we will go for it one more time.

Pressure testing pontoons? I had decided not to pressure test the pontoons because the thought of not going over 3 psi. without damaging the 'toon. I had pulled the drain plugs while the boat was sitting bow high on the trailer and nothing came out. When we took it the car wash after tear down I...

I get you can't have TOO sharp a radius, so if you have to, go under/skip the first cross member and then use the rest from there back? I was just thinking the same thing

Thanks for the input. I guess I didn't think the cables would bend enough to get into the holes in the crossmembers. I will definitely check that out. According to the company history on the JC Pontoons website, they have been building with U shaped pontoons since the beginning. They build...

I had some posts in another thread but started this because the title makes more sense. I have a 1984 JC Model 820 that we have disassembled and started putting back together. We are going to modify it so I can board and operate it in my big electric wheelchair. We are also converting it to...

    Pontoon on blocks

So today we washed the pontoons and frame in a carwash then took the boat off of the trailer and onto blocks. We were able to slide the the boat off the trailer unto the back it was balanced then pushed the back down to the blocks. We then slid trailer until it was almost off, and had one person...

    Pontoon on blocks

I asked my wheelchair van guy about used ramps and he had several. I got a manual ramp out of a worn out van. I thought about a powered unit but I wont be going out alone so I decided to save expense & weight. This one is nice as when it is folded it will open like a gate

    Pontoon on blocks

Sorry for being gone, computer crash, work covid and all that keeps getting in the way. We have actually made progress. We put the boat in the storage unit the day after we pressure washed it. We have stripped it down to all aluminum. I want to run the frame through a car wash before I put the...

    Pontoon on blocks

We got the boat pressure washed today and are moving to it to the shop tomorrow. That gives me all week to figure out how to get the boat from the trailer onto the blocks. The boat is so high I cant get near the deck from my wheelchair. I will have pictures of the wash and move tomorrow.

Oops fat fingers. Moving the trailer forward until I can jack the bow up off the back of the trailer, pull the trailer and set the bow down on the forward blocks?

    Pontoon on blocks

I have searched a lot and the only method I've seen to get a pontoon off of a trailer is pushing the tongue down then jacking the back and moving the trailer forward and so forth. Once the trailer is far enough forward can I lower the stern onto the blocks then keep moving the trailer forward the
