    Ok finally the puller came. Removed flywheel and took a pic of stator. The number on the stator doesn't match what the part break down calls for. Part number should be 398 9610A22. Looked for this number I cant find a reference for my motor.

    Thanks I have the mercury oem repair manual. It gives the part break down an part numbers. I just received the flywheel puller that they recommended. So hopeful I get this figured out. But should I change the trigger mechanism also if it ends up being the stator?

    Here are pics of the motor Have a repair manual and the oem book. But it doesn't say much on trouble shooting. More on how to replace.

    I was out in the boat running at 5000rpm just put a new prop on. Boat was on plane doing very well. Then it just dropped off to 3000 rpms by its self. Wouldn't go any higher no matter what I did. When take out of gear motor will reach the higher rpm. But it will not under a load. I know it could...
