1988 OMC 2.3L No Spark On Any Cylinder

Power to the coil? Did you test the coil?

You are definitely going to have to make a tool I think. What if you got a cheap spark plug socket, cut a channel out of it the width of the spark plug insulator that way you can slip it on the plug. THen you could use vice grips on the socket further out away from the cover. I dunno, but I...

Actually, upon further look I'm still not sure you will have enough clearance. Yikes.

You don't have enough clearance for an open ended wrench of normal length, find an open end wrench that will fit the plug, make it your permanent spark plug wrench by cutting it down real short, use a flat head screw driver or something similar as a lever against the wrench once you get it in...

1986 Bayliner Capri AQ131a, timing belt intermediate pulley is off position

One last question, as I put this thing back together I am going to need two new rubber seals for my copper pipes going in and out of the impeller. Anyone know where to find these things? Here is a pic of the 40 year old ones: https://photos.app.goo.gl/12P2pzFHAL4Cv4sQ8

1986 Bayliner Capri AQ131a, timing belt intermediate pulley is off position

Well, I just left everything in the position it was in when I took it off. Put the new belt on, the old one looked to be in great shape but it was STRETCHED. Doesn't chirp anymore with the new belt on.

1986 Bayliner Capri AQ131a, timing belt intermediate pulley is off position

Boat has ran great all season but here towards the end I have developed a chirp. I originally thought it was a simple alternator belt replacement but after removing the belt and running for a few seconds it still chirps. I thought it would be the tensioner, tensioner is also good, I replaced...

Penta 275 outdrive prop ate the rope couple screws snapped

Now I am thinking that what happened is there is supposed to be a zinc anode ring there, there wasn't. Maybe this ring wore out over time and fell off? And then when the prop ate the rope it snapped the screws? I think I am supposed to have the part in the pic in the attached image. There...

Penta 275 outdrive prop ate the rope couple screws snapped

This weekend my prop ate the rope while i was on the tube, wife and son didn't keep an eye on it as they were pulling out the slack. I spent 20 minutes pulling all the rope out and the boat continued on the rest of the weekend without problems. After pulling it out today I noticed the prop...

Bayline Capri, 1986, no condenser on my aq131a points

See photo below, just a little metal plug reset in each of those three points is a tiny hole. I kept the remains of the plug and I think I have enough of it to JB weld in. I'll give it a shot. Doing some research it's there to prevent condensation inside the distributor during cold weather...

Bayline Capri, 1986, no condenser on my aq131a points

Not looking to spend a bunch of money on a new ignition system, boat probably doesn't have much life left in it. I need to figure out how to repair the damage I did by removing the vent cap and the best way to resolve it.

Bayline Capri, 1986, no condenser on my aq131a points

I'm an idiot, just realized the condenser is mounted to the side and isn't super easy to see. I guess I need to pull the distributor out to test the condensor. To fix the vent cap I am thinking about putting some hvac metal tape over the hole and poking a couple small holes in it to mimic the...

Bayline Capri, 1986, no condenser on my aq131a points

Boat has been running rough, found out the points haven't been changed in a long while, replaced them and then noticed there isn't a condenser for the points? I got a condenser from autozone and since I can't mount it inside I figured I would mount it outside and run the wire inside. I noticed...

60s era 9.9 Chrysler autoelectric outboard model 923

I reread your post, sounds like I need a special tool to remove just the starter. Gotcha. I did find what looks like a ceramic tube that two wires were attached to but there was no filament or anything in it, no metal caps on the ends, but the ends were damaged like they had been broken. I am...

60s era 9.9 Chrysler autoelectric outboard model 923

I can remove the entire piece that sits above the flywheel, this is the part that fits over the flywheel, contains the starter and where the voltage regulator is mounted. I can also get the flywheel off, I was wondering about removing the housing that protects the actual starter. I think you...

60s era 9.9 Chrysler autoelectric outboard model 923

Hoping to get some help on reviving this motor, when I got it it would turn over but not start. The metal cap on top of the starter that holds the wiring for the light bulb was not screwed on and the red wire which is the positive for the light bulb broke and touched the coiled up piece of...

Only getting spark in one cylinder

Test it with a battery that turns over a car motor. Takes minutes to easily rule out.

Only getting spark in one cylinder

Swap the plug wire on your good plug to the bad plug and see if the bad plug fires up. If it doesn't swap plugs. Rule out your plug wire and your plug.
