    leaky steering upper seal/swivel pin

I used a SS pin from Hill Marine which is also a heat treated pin. I also got a heat treated U bolt from Hill Marine for clamping the pin in the gimbal ring. The pin was much more expensive, as you stated, compared to the ones you find on Amazon. I talked with Hill Marine and he claimed the...

    Four Winns H190 Trailer bunks

I replaced the carpet on the bunks on our trailer with GatorBak. The carpet had gotten to the point where it was marring the hull and I had to buff it out. It's expensive compared to carpet but I like the fact it doesn't hold water like carpet, allowing the wood to dry out quicker plus it does...

Thinking about upgrading to AGM batteries

Thank you all. I think you've talked me out of switching at the moment.

Thinking about upgrading to AGM batteries

Has anyone modified their charging system for AGMs? If so, what did you do?

Thinking about upgrading to AGM batteries

Thanks. 2 batteries and no shore power so no charger to deal with

Thinking about upgrading to AGM batteries

We have a 1999 Formula with a MerCruiser 310 (454 cid). I am thinking about upgrading to AGM batteries. I just wanted to check if it's a simple swap or do I need to worry about the charging system? Also any other thoughts/advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Are these gelcoat blisters? Need general advice on repair.

I'm no expert on blisters; however, the circles in the first two photos do not appear to be raised like a blister. Blisters are bumps that form in the gel-coat from pressure from water that has absorbed through the gel-coat. I also believe if you open a blister up, you may get some water that...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Don't forget to add the relief portion on the top of the hole for the outdrive to allow the tiller arm to swing full left and right. I noticed in an earlier picture you had the hole cut out but the left and right relief at the top of the hole wasn't there.

    Boat Trailer Bunk Carpet

Something you may want to consider is GatorBak bunk covers. They are definitely more expensive than carpet but that's what I used to replace the carpet on my bunks and really like them. They don't hold water at all and they do make it a little easier when I winch the boat up on the trailer.

Hour meter stopped working in VDO tachometer

Our 1999 Formula 260ss has VDO gauges in it and the tachometer has the hour meter built in. The hour meter has stopped working in it. Any suggestions on troubleshooting it or having it repaired? Thank you

    wheel bearings for Cox trailer

As alldodge stated, it's probably one inch spindles if it's 1200 pound trailer. The bearing numbers on my wave runner trailer are L44649 (1 inch spindles). The seal number is 12437. No guarantee these will fit. The only way to really know is to get the numbers off of the current parts...

Constant 'Two Beeps' from my Four Winns 4.3

You actually have 3 serial numbers. One for the outdrive, one for the transom assembly and one for the engine. Depends on the year but some boats (like my 1999) has all 3 on the cover over the engine. My 1989 boat had the engine serial number on a sticker on the valve cover. You'll have to...

Water coming in through bilge pump

Thank you everyone for the ideas. I'll probably just start with a longer hose and taller loop.

Water coming in through bilge pump

I've always heard a check valve in a bilge pump discharge is problematic.

Water coming in through bilge pump

The two discharges with flaps are floor drains and the hole on left side towards the aft is for the sink. When the boat is sitting, the waterline is just at or just below the u-bolt in the gimbal ring for the swivel pin. The hose simply has a loop in it higher than the discharge. No other...

Water coming in through bilge pump

Our Formula will allow water to come in through the bilge pump if there's a good force of water against the stern (reversing hard or coming off plane fast). The outlet for the pump is the smaller hole to aft on the right side in the picture. You can see how the design of the hull is the water...

Brake drum and bearing cap questions

The new spindle sounds like a sure-lube or e-z lube style spindle which I have on my trailer. My dust caps have a rubber plug in them that is removable which allow you access to the zerk fitting so you can grease the hub.

Engine Alignment tool goes in about 1/4 of the way, question.

Basically, that first "step" of the alignment tool should seat fully into the coupler so it should be able to go in about 2 inches or so. If it doesn't go that far, then it's not aligned.

Bravo 3 can you change gear oil line without removing lower unit?

As everyone else has stated, it's tight and the fitting going through the transom assembly is typically plastic. When I did mine, I was replacing the swivel shaft so I had to disassemble everything anyway so I cut the hose before I removed the bell housing so I could then work on removing it...
