    Tachometer not working right

The rectifier is working correctly. I connected the replacement tach directly to the engines rectifier, power and ground, including different settings just to see if it worked. It appears the replacement tach is bad as well. Would what I did confirm my suspicions?

    Tachometer not working right

I have a 1989 70 hp mercury engine that the tach is not working. I bought a replacement tach same as the one I had before. I have power (battery) to the tach and the ground is grounded. The gray wire (Sender) gets signal when turning over the engine but the tach when cranked goes the oposite...

    Smoke from lower unit

Last month I replaced the impeller on the lower unit on my 87 70 hp mercury engine. The boat ran fine before the replacement. Now there is smoke coming out of the propeller and the engine runs rough and very sluggish when i throttle up.. Did I not connect something right? Could I have fried the...

    Starting motor not charging

The charger is connected the "trolling motor batter". ;) When I used the trolling motor battery to get the engine started then removed the cables there was no voltage coming out of the cables. I verified the stator was good with 4.2 ohms which was perfect according to the manual. The rectifier...

    Starting motor not charging

I verified the throttle control does not charge the battery in anyway or goes through it. It comes from the engine. Either it's the stator or the rectifier.

    Starting motor not charging

Battery is less than a yr old and I checked the wires to the battery to see if there was any voltage going to it and there was nothing. The charger is connected straight to the trolling motor and I think it is routed to the throttle control then to the engine then to the battery but I have no...

    Starting motor not charging

I have an 1986 Lund with a 70 hp 2 stroke Mercury engine. My Pro Marine 5 amp single battery charger is not charging my starting battery but is charging my Trolling battery. Either it is in the motor or I have something hooked up wrong on the battery side. Before I put the boat away for the...

    87 Mercury 70 HP beeps

While I am to replace the impeller I like to know what is causing the beeps that are continuously. The sooner I get it fixed the sooner I can get back to fishing. :)

It beeps continuously except when I run the run the boat at a higher speed then a few minutes later it comes back.

    87 Mercury 70 HP beeps

    87 Mercury 70 HP beeps

Thanks for the informtion but I'm curious to why the impeller pump would be replaced if the engine is not getting enough oil. The engine is peeing out the back. I would think the oil pump or switch would have been the issue. Just trying to understand how the pump has to do with the oil. Thanks...
