115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Yeah I have the same TurboSwing. The problem is, it uses 2 bolts on each side of the upper motor mount. So the dealer popped an extra hole on each side to accommodate the tow bar. Now if I move the motor up one or two holes, the additional hole needed for the tow bar is no longer accessible. I...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Yeah for sure. I’m battling rpm’s a lot where I’m at now, so lower pitch is going to help me. I talked to another member with a 22’, same engine and he had the same results as you with the 14x14 prop. My engine is low I believe so I’m fighting that. I looked at raising the engine but it’s a bit...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

I went ahead and ordered a Solas 15.5X13p Double Cup pontoon prop based on your results @jlh3rd. I wanted to go with the 14X14 but feel like this prop may have similar results with a little more bottom end and less rpm slump when loaded or towing. Will report back when it's tested. Thanks for...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

That's some great results. Thanks for the update! Was this up river or down river? Not sure what kind of flow you are on and how it affects your speed.

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Yeah I did look at the 14X12 spitfire but I'm concerned it wouldn't be the best performance as using a prop slip calculator it's max speed at 6000 rpm would be 28mph with a 2% slip and may over rev possibly. At least with the 14X14 you can be around 5700 at 27ish mph. Ideally if a 14X13 4 blade...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Thanks for posting your engine pod in relation to your cavitation plate, very helpful. Yeah that hustler isn't going to work. My boat came with an extra prop which was a Spitfire 13.8X13 4.25". Well I tossed it on and took it for a spin one day before I knew anything about outboards. Got a whole...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Yes there is a plastic bore sleeve that has to be put in before the prop to prevent the exhaust gases from escaping around the prop. It a flimsy thing that breaks off all the time. My gearcase was missing it when I got my boat which caused terrible ventilation even with the right size prop, took...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

That’s interesting. From everything I read, all CT gearcases have a larger torpedo and take larger diameter propellers (4.75”), the same as the higher HP outboards. This allows for more prop selection as well. You can’t run a 4.25” propeller on it because the exhaust will just blow over the prop...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Thanks so much for the input, this is great information to have. Yeah that 14X14 speed and rpm sounds just like the other member I talked to. I do agree a 14X13 would potentially be a better fit, however, I can't seem to find a 14X13 4 blade with a 4.75 hub for the CT gearcase. Were you able to...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Yeah I thought all CT's may have had that XL shaft but this is my first outboard, don't know a whole lot about them. Learning though. Going to do some measuring but I think you're right it does need to come up a bit I think. I'm also going to get a 14X14 4 blade prop (Spitfire or Nemesis). I...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Yeah it seems a little low to me as the CT leg is longer than the regular 115. I am having a tough time figuring out what the optimal engine position is for a pontoon though. The engine "pod" varies model to model so you can't really measure from that. Any insight on where to measure from...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

It's been a long winter, I don't recall if the rpm's increased when trimming up, but I want to say yes? I did try a different prop that was the wrong hub size which caused extremely bad ventilation (only went 5mph or so), however the engine did rev right up to the rev limiter so the rpms did get...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Thanks for the response. Yeah that's from vessel view data. Yeah, non pontoon 115 CT's seem to be in that 19-20 pitch from what I can find. Its a BlackMax XC Pontoon 15.25X15 prop (48-78116CP1). Last fall I checked the height of the engine and it seemed to be in a good position. I don't have a...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Bump on this thread. Trying to figure out what prop to go with for the summer. 4500 rpm at 21mph just isn't cutting it. Using a prop slip calculator I'm at 22% slip which is high from what I understand. I need to get at least another 1000 rpm and would like to be high 20's for speed. Do I have...

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Just to specify, my engine is a regular 115 4 stroke with the Command Thrust gear ratio, 5000-6000 max rpm. The OP is a Pro XS engine which is rated for 6000-6300 max rpm, so he is a bit low with the 3 blade prop.

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

Sub'd for info on this as well. I have a 2014 115 4 stroke Command Thrust on a 22ft pontoon. I am also only getting 4500RPM at 21mph with a 15.5 x 15p aluminum 3 blade prop. Should be up between 5000-6000RPM with this engine, but not getting near there.

Mercury 115 fourstroke high rev low speed

I just wanted to bump this thread with another possible solution to anyone having this problem. I have a Mercury 115 CT on a 22ft pontoon as well and was getting bad ventilation on the prop at higher RPMs. Turns out the Prop Bore Sleeve was missing. The small white nylon plastic spacer that...
