    $5.49 for REC fuel yesterday. WTH! It's what I burn in this 502 Ford Mustang engine that's in this boat and it runs great. High test is cheaper but still has corn in it. Maybe I should be using that?

    That was this mechanics opinion too until he methodically eliminated everything else. I have the so-called bad coil in my 95 Chris Craft 502 Ford.

    I have heard form a local mechanic here in SW FL that the ignition coil causes this problem if it's a recently installed after market one. There is a MerCruise replacement that he has the part number for. I can get it if you can't find it. He has had a recent bunch of calls (mobile mechanic)...

    How about 90 octane ethanol free? Diesel is crazy high here too. I didn't look actually but it's normally around $0.35 more a gallon around here.

    Ethanol free 90 octane is what we call rec gas. About 2/3rds of the gas stations here carry it because we are a coastal town. It good in small engine 4 stroke stuff too. Mowers, trimmers, generators, etc.

    Just wondering what folks around the country are paying for rec gas today? In the Englewood/Port Charlotte are of SW Florida, it jumped $0.45 over night and is now$4.58/gal. Regular 87 octane is $4.09! Never saw that in my 61yrs on this planet. It will be back to kayak fishing soon!
