    what year is my merc?

    I have a 50hp Merc 500 made in Canada. I cannot find anywhere I can punch in the serial number to find out what year it is. Any ideas? I went to oldmercs.com and they only give stuff on American motors, plus I don't think my merc is that old..... 80's I think. Any help would be awesome! :confused:

    50hp merc "slips out of gear" over 2000 rpm

    Just bought my first boat. Took it to get serviced so it would run perfectly first time out but that didn't seem to work. At first it worked fine, then decided to "bog out" when giving it more power. Later that day it worked great for an hour or so until towing the final tube ride, going close...
