    Did you end up figuring this out? I think my timer base is causing the same symptoms (I've replaced everything in the ignition system except it and the flywheel... lol)

    I have a question. I have another 60hp evinrude that is an older model. Will it's power pack (0583748) be interchangeable with the problem motors power pack (5004532)? One states 'for 4 wire timer base' and the other states 'for 5 wire timer base'

    Correction - I've replaced the stator and looked at the magnets and they look good with a visual inspection

    But I mean if they're not it's really only the magnets, stator or cdi right? and ive replaced the cdi and looked at the magnets

    I've definitely sufficiently tried switching coils, even with a new coil. I voltage tested with DVA and coil was getting same voltage as other cylinders. What exactly does indexing it identify? Like what possibilities are out there (not asking rhetorically) for faults? Magnets looked to be...

    CDI. It became clear to me once I established the cylinder had weak spark, you can see my comment earlier I think now its just ive established its maybe more an intermittent spark rather than a weak spark

    But if there is a clear electrical problem shouldn't I address that? I just did another dva and spark test. I think found some crucial information. The DVA test is giving a good 200v like it is on the other cylinders, however the spark test is showing intermittent spark, its not consistent like...

    I have tried switching carbs though. I mean I've straightforward spark tested it and bottom cylinder has a weak spark. I might dva test the cdi output again I guess

    Yeah. I guess I just wasn't sure whether the timer base had the possibility of influencing it. It's good to know I can disregard that then. I've checked coils and wires. I dva tested the pack output and got ~200v on each cylinder but I guess I'll do it again to make sure

    Okay so I got a spark tester and the bottom cylinder has a weak spark in comparison to the top two. Since I've replaced virtually everything in the ignition except the timer base and CDI, would I be correct in assuming it's probably one of these things?

    I've not seen any sparks flying around watching it at night but perhaps it hasn't been dark enough. Still waiting for new wires to arrive in mail

    Yeah, I've heard that but also heard they can still shock you regardless. I ordered a new bunch anyway so hopefully that helps
