1988 Evinrude loses spark to #4 after quick start drops out

I just checked, still have original powerhead. By quick start I mean that it starts very easy, idles high until motor reaches about 95 degrees and then drops down to normal rpms. Then once warm, it starts very easy idles high for about 5 seconds and then drops down to normal. It is during...

Hi everyone. I have a new to me 1988 Evinrude 120 Model E120TLCCA. Had the boat out for the second time today running this motor. First time out it ran great until I was heading back in when it started to miss and surge. Today I took it out and after clearing the no wake zone I went to get on...

    1985 looper 140 and a 1985 looper 120 powerhead exchange

Hello all! I am currently running a 1985 140 20 inch shaft looper which has low compression on 1 cylinder (around 115 on 3 and 105 on the other). It still runs but is lacking at WOT. Just replaced the head gaskets and found moderate scuffing on the 105 psi cylinder. I don't if it's normal...

WP gauge is connected to the adapter plate, Checked the gauge by shooting some compressed air in the line seems to be working correctly. 1985 140 Johnson looper 20 degree temp difference between port and starboard

Also I don't believe there is any prop slip. The prop has a new hub and I marked the hub and prop and the marks are still aligned. Further the fuel pump has been rebuilt with OEM parts, and new power pack.

1985 140 Johnson looper 20 degree temp difference between port and starboard

I changed the impeller about 16 months ago. I am not running an aluminum prop. It is an older SS model prop # 387520 . I don't know but performance can be all prop related. I am thinking I should be running around 53 mph, 7 mph seems to be a lot to make up with a better prop.
