    tap size for shift cable nut?

    Hello The shift cable nut in the bell housing (1988 Alpha One) Is shoot, it looks like it has been there for a long time. The "special" socket striped the brass nut, I cut the cable and so far I drilled a 5/16 hole thru it. Does anyone know the TAP size for this tread? Thanks Happy holidays
