    To wax or not to wax

    Does applying wax to the hull of a boat reduce top speed? Iv'e read that applying wax and polishing it off increases surface tension of the water that comes into contact with it. Seems like that would create more friction.

    outboard running height

    Anyone know if raising the engine a bolt hole at the transom helps or hinders getting a bit more bow lift at wide open throttle. I know about ventilation etc. I have power trim, 60hp 2stk. 15 ft aluminum. Hull needs to lift a bit more for more top speed. Also the props am using 14&15p 10-10.5in

    transom spacers

    Anyone used these? They move the engine back 2 inches. I'm looking to get the bow up a little more at wide open throttle, to gain a little more speed. They are cheaper than jack plates, which usually move the engine back 5 inches or more. On my boat 5 inches would probably make it sit too low in...

    Replacing factory reed valves

    Replacing factory reed valves I am installing Boysen reeds in my 2000 60hp merc 3cyl soon. Anyone know if the main jets will be too fat after the switch? Also if the engine sneezes at idle will this ruin these reeds? If done properly what gains can I expect?:D
