    This is just a curious, silly question. I have a 1989 100hp. I have a 1978 135hp that for whatever reason I want to use mid section. Is there any advantage/disadvantage for doing this? I think it’s direct swap.

    Compression is between 145 and 150 on all holes. The motor came with an updated ignition which had no spark. I found proper CD Box and coil. Still no spark. I sent my CD boxes and coils, I now have multiples, and distributor away and they work on another motor. Any thoughts?

    1: there is a pin that holds the shift handle in place. Not sure if it’s pressed in or if it’s a small Allen key.     Maybe. I have both a 1978 and a 1979 year models. They have subtle differences. I’m hoping to make one good motor from the two. There’s just a couple of things I’m not sure of, so I will need a bit of info from a manual.

    Good day. I’m on the hunt for a good service manual for a 1978-79 Mercury 20hp outboard. Would anyone have a link or even a PDF I could purchase. I’m in Canada so finding one on eBay is very costly. These things are hard to come by. .

    I’ll check that out. Thank you. I have my eye on a Fiberglass truck cap that I could cut just the very top of it. It’s almost the size I need. Then have some bars made up to support it.

    He did a ton of work. I like but for me, it’s too much. But I will give him props for having the cojones to go out on that big water in a tri hull.

    I’ve thought of that. But it wouldn’t be a real big top. It be approx 5’ X 5’ ish. I’m thinking over covering the front seats, part of the rear facing seats and about 6” past the top of the windshield. I’d have aluminum tubes made for support and also to be Removable .
