    Noise insulatiuon

Re: Noise insulatiuon I used this same material on the hatch covers over my engine compartment. It has reduced the noise and vibration considerably. It is very easy to apply, as chriscraft254 says.

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport I stole one of chriscraft254's ideas too and added some sound insulation to my hatch covers, as long as I had those off to replace the seacocks. It's actually a roof repair product you can find at home depot...

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport In the pic below, you can see the exhaust hose running through the hole I cut. At the bow end of the V-berth I had to cut another hole up through the V-berth and then into the anchor locker. There wasn't sufficient space inside the storage area below...

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport Ok...I promised pics of my AC install. As I mentioned, I bought a residential portable unit. It's 8000 BTU and, as Dawg mentioned, it self-ventilates the condensate so it serves as a dehumidifier as well as an AC unit. It is not reverse heat, which...

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport I also am considering mounting another set of receiving brackets where the upper set of screws is located... I could then re-position the benches up high (with some longer legs) for a true sun-pad. I also considered mounting receiving brackets...

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport After mounting the receiving brackets to the transom, I measure and mounted the legs to each bench seat. I mounted the outboard legs in toward the center about 12 inches. Doing so places that leg closer to the center of weight on the seat. The inboard...

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport In previous photos, I showed you the bracket that I planned to use to attach the bench seats to the transom and the legs I planned to use to support the front of the benches. I got lucky! In this picture you can clearly see the screws that are already...

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport A couple more..... As you can see its all open. I've used the canvas deck chairs for additional seating and store my coolers under the helm seats. In rough water, those deckchairs are not the most stable and tend to tip and rock or slide across the deck.

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport Fortunately, it was not all tedious work. We did take the time to float out into the big lake and onto dead-calm blue water under cloudless skies. No fish were harmed in the making of this picture (unfortunately), but it felt good to wet a line! :D

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport A few more pictures. The first thing I noticed was the shine. My son pointed out that it's the "color transfer" you're looking for. That is, how deep and crisp a reflected color are you getting in the wax from outside objects. chriscraft254 got it and...

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport AS I said above, we power washed and cleaned the hull and then my youngest son went to work with the power buffer with a wool cutting bonnet on it. He used some Maguire's compound on it, which he didn't like as well as the 3M stuff. I really began to...

Re: 1987 28' Chris-Craft 283 Amerosport Well, I was able to get up to the Marina one day this week. I brought my boys along with me. It's nice to have cheap labor! My youngest son, now 25, worked for an auto detailer shop in High School and got pretty good at detailing cars and boats. I...
