    shift linkage removal 85 hp Evinrude

    I am tring to remove lower unit on a 1974 85 hp Evinrude. I have losened the bell crank halves and seperated the shift linkage from the bell crank. The manual says it should drop. It looks like its hanging on the shift rod conector. Don't see a way to remove it from the shift shaft. Any help...

    Replaced the water pump with new kit. I asked about sealing plate to housing and was told there was some in the kit, only to see it was lube for the shaft. I just bolted plate down and finished job. Now I read a post where it sounds as if you have to seal bottom of plate. Is this true? Haven't...

    1974 85hp water pump removal

    If I do the job on the back of the boat. Is there enough room to pull the lower end with the shaft, out? Or do you have to remove motor from boat to get enough clearance. Kinda dumb question I know, but. Thanks
