    How can I say what the RPM is if I dont have an RPM gage?

    My boat is pretty simple, so I dont have an RPM gage. How can I find out what the actual RPM is on my motor? Thanks. Cris I have a Johnson 88, I think the specs say 4800 - 5500, and recommend a 17" prop, 13 3/4.

    How do I know my impeller is good withou tearing apart the engine

    Water intake

    I just installed Johnson 88 outboard and want to test it. I will put the motor in a bucket with water...which one is the water intake... how far up must it be submerged in water before i can safely start it. I could use some prompt advise... thanks Chris 716667740

    Johnson 90 VRO, 1986 compression values

    1986 Johnson 90hp VRO Oil injected 2 Stroke Outboard with a stainless prop. Model # J90TL CD C Motor is on boat and starts promptly, although not used on lake for 5-6 years. Are these good compresison values? 111 110 113 110 Is the motor worth $1000? Thanks. Cris

    1990 Johnson 88 SPL vs. 1987 Johnson 88 SPL

    Are these two motors identical? I have a 1990 model on my boat, but the powerhead is burnt and it is not worth fixing. I have an opportunity to buy a Johnson 88 SPL from 1987. My qeuetsion is, are these twomotor identical, same power head, same... can I mix and match parts between the two?
