    Thermostat

Some have them, some don't. I know how they work. I know what they do for a car. But what purpose do they serve in an outboard? I can make some guesses, but they seem to be just another source of problems. So why not just remove it? Thanks

    Trolling Battery Repair

I bought a new marine trolling battery. A week later my 13 year old fishing buddy set a cordless drill complete with spade bit on a shelf and it fell off. Naturally, it just had to skewer our new battery. I don't think it penetrated deep enough to do any internal damage, but it left a cut...

    Minn Kota Weedless 35

Any idea when these were made? Can't find squat for info, except a couple for sale on the net. I picked one up the other day for $20; it's never been in the water. Thanks

    Phantom Bantam

I have a Phantom Bantam Trolling motor I purchased when I was a kid at an auction for $2 It's mostly chrome with aluminum hardware. It has a toggleswitch for high-off-low. A plate on top of the egg shaped but flat top control/handle reads: Phantom Products, Inc. Kansas City, MO. "Run only...

    Nuetralizing Hull Corrosion

I'm restoring an old mirrocraft aluminum deep fisherman back to servicable condition. Unfortunately the transom was rotted out from too many years of ignorant storage (laying upside down in the back yard) by it's previous owner. I'm having a hard time finding marine plywood, especially 1 1/2"...

    Age of Oil

I was given a case of Evinrude outboard oil. It's in the round can with a pull top. I'd say it's 20-25 years old. It was kept in a garage. Does this stuff go bad? Thanks

    oil choice

OK, I just have to ask. I'm on the learning curve here. I've seen plenty of advice to use chain saw oil in the air cooled clinton engines. I've also seen advice that outboard oil is fine. Given a quality oil, wouldn't mix ratio have a greater impact on it's ability to lubricate? Does it...

    SeaKing J700 1106B (clinton)

I got it started. The fuel pump has a crack in it where it was modified for a non factory fitting, so it leaks. The shift lever (handle) is missing. It is popping in and out of gear on it's own. Is there a service manual for this? Unfortunately, I started it thinking it was completely air...
